ethanol free fuel

I was cruising around the lake of the ozarks this weekend and stopped for some gas. Local stations had premium ethanol free fuel for the same price, so I figured I would give it a try. I've burnt 4 tanks of it in the last 24 hours with noticeably less engine heat and improved fuel economy, or perhaps it was all placebo effect. If it matters 2016 RM with full stage 1.

Quote real gas is hard find now days but have say I never noticed a difference with Indian 111 engine. I did notice a difference in old Harley on how it ran better on ethanol free fuel and it did get better fuel mileage

Bizarre. Zero within 100 miles if STL but several in SW portion of state and KC.
Just like I suspected, Iowa only has 1 near Minnesota. Their farmers went hook, line and sinker for all the Federal subsidies. 42 corn ethanol plants and two cellulosic plants operating across the state.

Corn is FOOD not FUEL!!!

I did a test with my Acura TSX a few years ago. I used ethanol free on one trip back and forth to Ohio, and regular "gas" on the same route about two weeks later. I got much better gas mileage with ethanol free. I am not saying it will work better in our 111 engines, but it does seems to give you more energy, which makes sense considering gasoline is much better fuel than alcohol in modern engines.

I live near the Lake and our town has 3 stations that have ethanol free 93 octane. Just as good as 91 and same price. Hope you enjoyed your cruise around the Lake.

Ethanol free gets about 20% better has mileage. That is why ethanol fuel is about 20% less at pumps for cost.
Close! Ethanol gets 15-20 percent worse fuel mileage than non-ethanol (lower energy content, requires richer air/fuel mixture).

But that’s pure ethanol.

If your fuel is 10% ethanol, 10% of the fuel will get worse mileage (so to speak) and the rest will get the same. So, 10% ethanol will get about 1.5-2% worse mileage, E85 will be more like 15% worse.

And it’s only cheaper because of subsidies.

Any place there are boats there will be ethanol free gas. Just for grins check out Florida and you'll see what I mean.
There are tons of boats here (nothing compared to Florida), but we do have two of the largest rivers in the US here, Mississippi and Missouri.

I believe you get better fuel mileage something around 4%. I can only get premium non ethanol as well and use it in a variety of engines. But vehicles requiring regular get ethanol 10%. When I store vehicles for a period of time I always use non ethanol because it degrades at a slower rate. Of the few two stroke sport bikes I use to ride only non ethanol would do because it would mess with the oil.

You will get better fuel mileage with E0 fuel for example when I was younger my dad had a drag car that he switched from gas to alcohol. It would take roughly 2 gallons of fuel to make one 1/4 mile pass and 4 gallons on the alcohol. The other things about ethanol is that it is drying but also attracts moisture in to the fuel.

I have a 2016 Scout ABS with 12K on the clock. I can count on one had the number of times I've put ethanol in it. I typically get 135+ miles per tank before the idiot light comes on. IIRC, most Scout riders get that light around 115. You read that correctly; I've filled with ethanol gas 5 times.

Same here. I live on a river that leads to Oneida Lake in central NY. All three gas stations in town have corn free, but it's 91, not 93. I run the corn free in all my gas engines with the exception of my 2016 Chebby truck. Truck doesn't seem to care what it eats LOL.

E-85 here is a pretty static price. I dont EVER use it in my flex fuel Tundra. Even when Regular dips close to it in price it stays about the same, at least around here.

My scout seems to run a lot better on non ethanol fuel. I have a station about a mile from my house that has non ethanol 90. That is about all I use in it. I ran one tank of ethanol 93 in it and it sounded quieter but it did not to seem to have as much horse power.

I use an app on my Iphone called "Pure Gas." All you do is allow it to know your location and it lists all the surrounding stations that have pure gas. It will even route you to a station via the Apple maps app if you simply push the location you'd like to go to. I've got 2 stations within 3 miles of me and a dozen within 10 miles. The hard part is finding the correct pump when you get to the station. Problem solved.
