Yup, 2019 is the latest and greatest for our Ride Command. Don't hold your breathe for any updates. We have the old antiques now and they are focused on the new models. ps, your gear is on the way....

I called PC Beach today for estimates plus SCL side stand recall. Once all is here and they have recall parts it’ll be scheduled. Thanks again!

The gps/turn-by-turn navigation doesn’t work on my 2017 Chieftain Limited. When I type in a specific address, it consistently displays zero results found. I can however, locate any city center, gas station, or restaurant. Is anyone else with these older units having that problem? I’ve been using Apple Maps, but I don’t get to see that on the RC display screen.

I had that problem in Europe, but their addresses are a little different than ours. You could try backing all the way out to the country selection screen, as by default they come with U.S., Canada, and I think Mexico, and selecting US again, then follow the prompts down to State, City, etc. Or, you could generate a map key on the bike (to a thumbdrive) and use that with the map downloader to try to re-download the latest map update.

Don't get me started. It didn't work then. It doesn't work now. Despite whatever route you create and upload in advance, the bike will override your choices and send you on a route it thinks is better. Right now, I have a pretty 7" screen that I use to check tire pressure and play music. Oh, but it doesn't play music the way you want, either...

I add towns, I want to go through along the way and select pass thru on route. Keeps system from rerouting where you may not want to go. Went from Eyota, MN to Prescott, AZ and this worked for me.

2017 Chieftain...Ride Command works great. Can modify routes and select different road options to get there. Used it from the East Coast to the West Coast and back with great results. Had a buddy using Google maps on his phone and for the majority we had same routing.

It is technology and may be a little different than what you might be used to. It is not without its flaws and could definitely be improved. But it is not as bad as some would have you believe. Be patient and check all the settings.

As a side note, how are you liking the upgrade to the 116? Any reliability issues? I'm going back and forth on whether or not to make the move. Since I have the 116 TS on my 2022 Chief Bobber DH, if I feel the need for speed, it's my bike of choice. One factor keeping me from pulling the trigger is cost...6 large was the quote from the dealership. If I did eventually do this, it would give me the opportunity to black-out the rest of the motor via powder coating.

Well, after checking on Indian's website, after a login, I found that I needed a map update, which required me to use a different password. The download on the computer, transfer to thumb drive, and load into the Ride Command took forever...slow as molasses. After all that, I still couldn't find specific addresses until I realized that I had been entering the requested location wrong all along. It's all good now.

The BBK is in now, but winter has still got us in her grips. I still need to get her flashed with the proper tune... Can't wait to get some mileage on it. I would do it again but would probably do the heads and porting.

In Taiwan, we have a goofy law that forbids motorcycles from riding on freeways. Not a huge problem, because the expressways and national highways are often more scenic, but I cannot use Ride Command for directions.

If I plot and ride an alternative course in RC, whenever I get anywhere within a few kilometers of the freeway, RC overrides my course and repeatedly tries to route me over to a freeway entrance ramp. If I ignore it and keep riding my own route, the map soon becomes a confusing scribbled mess of overlapping "redirects" as RC keeps trying to get me to turn back many kilos to previous ramps, then onward to remaining waypoints... repeat, repeat, repeat. What a mess.

I've discussed this in several threads, tried suggestions from this board and another, also spoke with Indian Customer Service. The bottom line: RC is broken and will never be fixed for those of us riding bikes more than a few years old. No matter whether I add waypoints, break the trip into many small segments and files, plot the map in another app or file format or even on a separate GPS, change routing mode between Scenic vs. Fast, etc., RC can and will override whatever I plot.

Oh, and in case anybody's wondering what happens when you accidentally follow one of those scribbly redirects onto a freeway? Taiwan immediately dispatches a two-car welcoming committee. You tell them you just want to ride to the nearest exit. It's not safe to ride on a freeway, they all insist. I look at 3 vehicles, 4 cops plus my wife and I on this damp, narrow shoulder they have us stopped on. Hmm. We must call a tow truck, they declare. When it finally shows up, the driver wisely refuses to lift the massive Roadmaster. Eventually, the pesky cops relent and agree to give you a safe, VIP escort to the next exit. With a flashing car ahead and behind us, we chug along at 40 km/hr to the same ramp we had been trying to reach an hour ago. All kinds of fun and only 400 bucks USD, lol.
