36mm Yes. Standard Axle nut socket worked.
T40 is needed for the grab rails and the accessory plate that mounts the license relocation & luggage rack.
6mm allen wrench for the seat bolts.

 

You know, really consistent and limited range of fastener sizes...

 

You see that on many bikes, kinda confusing to see Torx here and allen there. Pretty sure there is some philosophy behind that. Just haven't figured that out....

 

If I was to guess, I would think it has to do with the *stealability* of the part.

I have Allen wrenches all over the place but I only have a socket set of Torx and an all in one handset (that is practically useless since the hand portion is plastic").

Anyway having to get a Torx bolt loose is more trouble for a thief.

I have a set of ski racks for my Saab and they have Torx head bolts for just this reason.

Removing the plastic covers on the handlebar controls requires a T10.

Did everyone find the Allen/Phillips head tool tucked in their bike? It's right by the oil filter.

 

That's about goofy.

 

Since we're talking about tools... I'm kinda anal about torques and measurements etc so chain slack is a mind F for me. That being said, has anyone seen or had any experience using one of these chain slack tools? In theory, it makes sense but I could be missing something...

 

Why do you think it’s useless? It is the size to remove the battery as well as fuse covers..

I guess useless was the wrong choice of words. Location however is much to be desired. Absolutely no protection from the elements. I'm wondering how many other tools I might find hidden on the bike.
