Here it is. The new ftr. Now you suckers don’t have to put fake ohlins stickers on your gold forks. Although some still will instead of paying $1800 for the real ones.

And a few new accessories. It looks like they have been listening to the owners

17" wheels. That'll make life a little easier.
No more DT3R tires either. Now Metzler Sportec.
😂 Wonder if those that buy the 2022 FTR will clamor for the uniqueness of the larger wheels on the earlier models as much as those that have been clamoring for the 17" wheels?

Metzeler Roadtec and Racetec are already available for the original rims.

With regards to the smoother predictable response and enhanced throttle feel together with Euro 5 compliance excuse my cynicism but the already strangulated engine's throat has in all likelihood been grasped a little harder perhaps? Be nice to try a demo.

The lowered seat height is a side affect of the 17s

And due to the overall lower height, the headers are now tucked under the bike more.

It also has rear cylinder deactivation, larger catalytic, and the catalytic is now welded to the header, coupled with a “new tune”. My guess is it’s to help comply with euro 5 emissions.

New ECU software?
An enhanced throttle feel and smooth predictable response make the FTR scream without making you break a sweat, thanks to improved heat management and rear cylinder deactivation that sends the heat off your back tire—and not into you.
I wonder if this would be available for earlier models?

Two biggest general complaints are usually the efi tuning and range. Looks like they took that head on. 17’s are interesting, since it isn’t just a package offering but all FTRs. They could have added a model with those wheels and geometry instead. Interesting choice!

My Moto Guzzi Griso came standard with Metzeler Sportec M3 rubber. They did not work on the Griso, and I had to continue to fight the bike into a corner; it just didn't want to lean. Replacement Michelin PR4 GT @ 10,000 kM were a breath of fresh air.

I hope the FTR1200 doesn't behave the way the Griso did with these tires. In any event, I will not be fitting replacements with Metzeler Sportec tires for my FTR1200 with 19" and 18" wheels.

Good changes. These bikes were being ridden on the street, so the faux flat track tires were for looks only. The 17s will give the owners a wide variety of tires to choose from. Also, read many negative remarks about the seat height, so glad to see IM address that...this should make the bike more appealing to female riders too. Would like to see clutchless shifting added too.

Honestly though, I'm not going to get rid of my bike.
There are too many changes i DON'T like (such as no ability to remove ABS, suspension changes I don't like) to make it worthwhile just to get the 17 inch wheels.
Hopefully there will be a lot of aftermarket parts available for all the 2019-21 owners, and they will sell some kind of 'wheel conversion kit' or something.
Cause the height will make the world of difference to a shortarse like me when I'm trying to park.
