Would someone please tell me what I require in parts to remove the fuel tank on an 2017 Scout, I believe you need to plug the fuel line?
Thanks

It is easier to handle if you run the tank down low. Once you remove the fuel line it will drip a little then stop. So you only need a rag or paper towel to catch the gas drips. The connector on the fuel line that goes into the tank is fragile. You have to press two opposing tabs while pulling off the connector. The tabs are thin plastic and tend to break even if you are careful. If they do break, your dealer might get you a new one under warranty. They cost $50. However, even if the retaining tabs are broken, you can still press the connector back on and hold it in place with a tie wrap. Sounds scary but it works well and they are many Scouts out there doing this. I got tired of replacing mine and just used the tie wraps.

The tank comes off easily. The fuel line has a quick release fitting ( search the forum for pics) that can be tricky to release. If you do it wrong it can snap. When It's released it closes itself but you can get a dribble of fuel out of it so you need a cloth underneath as you release it.

When I remove mine, which has been twice now, I remove the cover on the right side of the motor that says "est. 1901". This allows me better access to the connector on the fuel rail, than it is for me to get my big hand under the tank for that connector, and it is easier to pinch the release to remove the connector. To each their own though, do what works best for you, either way you only lose a little bit of fuel and it quits.
