Is there a simple "If it fits an HD such and such, it'll fit an Indian Scout" rule I can follow?

I've found tons of Sissy Bars I like but they all base fitment on HD OEM fenders.

Dennis Kirk sells cycle vision mount plates for the Scout, you can put any 8-3/4" sissy bar on them. I put the Drag Specialties tapered round bar on mine, but there are others that fit.

Hi, this is good news for me. I have been searching for a basic sissy bar to mount a bag on.I havent seen anything I wanted. They all seem to be passenger backrests and ugly.I measured my Deluxe and it seems to have the same width and 9/16" square material. It looks like this will clear my Indian fender rack? Is this correct? I need the rack for a bag to rest on. I went on Cycle Visions website and couldnt even find these sideplates.I spoke with someone who told me to call back on Monday.I'll do that.
I also notice my HD bar is not too much off a 90* angle. This is important for mounting bags also.Too much angle doesnt work properly.
Did your setup all line-up when installing? I am looking forward to getting some storage for essential stuff.

It all lined up, the cycle vision setup is an exact fit. I'll post some pics soon so you can see the lean on it.

I just ordered the Cycle Visions side plates #CV3100 .After measuring my HD sissy bar and my scout I went ahead and ordered the exact same one I have on my deluxe.
Do the side plates come with any hardware or do you use the scout bolts and spacers? I noticed the side plates country of origin is:KR.That may explain why they dont seem to have much info on their products. Well,if this all goes together I will be quite happy. It doesn't take much to make me happy.

Dean Speed Customs (on Facebook) makes sissy bars for the Scout. He does custom stuff if you want as well. Mine arrived today, and I'm eager to get home, and get it installed.

Here's my sissy bar from Dean Speed Customs. I'm absolutely in love with it. I couldn't find the M8-1.25 x 35mm bolts I needed, so I just went with 5/16" x 1.5" with half thread. Sticks out past the hole inside a little bit, which makes me nervous, but seems fine. I'll eventually get the right bolts when I can find them.

Can you actually lean back on it though? Ive seen his stuff on fb but it doesnt look strong enough to put any weight on. I dont want my wife or daughter to break it lol.

That looks good. I'm amazed that a 5/16X24 bolt threaded in. I wish we could just do away with all the different types of fasteners. I don't care which one we choose, just choose ONE.I bought a new '68 Bonneville when I was kid.I had some tools but I quickly found out I didn't have any Wentworth Spanners.

I installed my sissy bar a few days ago. I bought the Cycle Visions side plates. They are well made with good chrome.Everything lined up perfectly. I ordered the same HD upright I have on my Deluxe. It was only $59 to the door.I wouldnt be surprised if it was Chinese knockoff but it looks fine and again all holes lined up. This is a great add-on that cost about $150 total. I had a decent bag laying around from motorcycles past that will carry all the crap I need and not look too fugly. thanx to all for the good info.

I'm ordering this sissybar set up.
I would like to verify: The sissy bar itself is 8 1/2" wide, not 7"
That is to say; Softail bar, not Dyna bar. Correct?

It's a Mustang.I'm not happy with the way it's fitting.I'm going to devote some time tomorrow to try and get it mounted right. This is my 4th Mustang seat and never a problem till now. I think they are now selling more seats than they can make and don't give a shit.

I actually ordered one from Dean Speed today. Mykah was good to deal with, and is making me one with a blank cross bar, so I can attach a Mustang backrest to it to match my seats.

Soon, I'll be able to take my boy with me on rides, and also use the sissy bar to attach my gear for camping when solo. Sweet.

I ordered the cycle visions plates, been waiting over a week for 'em to arrive. Pretty excite, because I've got a round-bar sissy-bar here that I'm hoping will work.
