I deleted Racine Indian from my GPS. It was in there from previous owner. No desire to go Racine. But it interesting to know about if I was down there

I've been to fuel and musego
Metro Milwaukee in Muskego is my dealership of choice. Rob Schopf has a good crew there and they do a great job.
They do have the Grandpa Franks hot dog trailer there in the summer months.

My local dealerships GM said he doesn’t know how any dealership can sell Indian only. He said the busy months they sell 3-5 bikes. In the winter 2-3 and sometimes not that. They do sell Honda, Zero and Slingshots. I’m sure sales are better in warmer places, but here we usually have a down time of about 5 months for winter.
Is that Mungenast your referring to?

Indian Motorcycles of Racine here in Wisconsin has very nice complex that features a restaurant bar above the showroom as well as an outdoor entertainment space.

The building was originally built as a Studebaker automobile dealership.

Harley has volume. I think the problem is Harley forcing dealers to build giant stores.

Not sure the time line or reasoning, but the dealer by me built brand new store. Did they do it sell Indian? Not sure. But I bet they got a giant loan out. And who really cares what the store looks like?

Polaris should be shoving indians into Polaris dealers.

Biggest complaint is probably lack of dealers but every area has Polaris dealer, Honda dealer, ect.
My Indian dealership, Street Stuff Cycles in Norwich CT is Indian, Triumph and CF Moto

I left the Indian dealer (Lou Fusz Motorsports) in O'Fallon Illinois this morning. I learned they are being purchased by a Holshauser (big name locally) that owns Green Mount Harley Davidson and is the home of GMR Motorsports also. They are moving Indian into the same complex mentioned above. We will have Indian and H.D. along with Can-Am, KTM, Suzuki and others all in the same complex. Interesting times.
That sux but the building was in a weird location and I wondered why they built the Honda shop a mile away... People claim Green Mount HD is better than Frieze was after Holzhauer bought them out maybe the same in this instance

I am located in Central Virginia no Indian Dealership less than 150m away .. and as a matter of fact, I traveled 350m to Canton OH (North Star Indian, a great dealership) to trade my '12 Ness Vision for a '22 Pursuit .. (I miss that Vision). So I am pleased that Lynchburg Powersports (a Polaris Dealer) finally tookon opening an Indian Dealership approx 1 month ago ... Yay! Now called Indian of Forest, VA. So I stopped in to see what kind of Indian goodies they had .. which is limited, due to they are still waiting and stocking items.
But what gets my goat .. is Polaris & Indian service mgrs will say no to working on my 05 Victory TC (which Lloyd's installed a bigbore kit yrs ago .. and she's still zooming along) .. no current need for work, but being curious and visiting 3 Polaris or Indian dealerships over the yrs .. they each state they are not licensed or certified to work-on or ORDER Parts..
I think that's just crazy, bad-business and unconcerned for their clientele.

My local Indian Motorcycle dealership takes in a lot of Harleys on trade, so this would make turn over much easier.

After the Fort Worth HD dealer opened an Indian dealership he was able to afford to overhaul the HD building into what I call the "Taj MaHarley". Notice the Indian sign on the left.

It surprises me that both Indian and H.D. put dealerships in the same parking lot. The criteria for both have changed.
They seem to be getting stricter on this side of the pond. The dealer I used to work at also has a Ducati franchise and the L-shaped building they planned had a wall between the two sides, a wall that was conveniently missed off when they built the place. 😂

Their other site however has recently had to give up their HD franchise because they were unable to separate the showroom from the Ducati side. This is a family owned dealership opened in 1976 and been an official Harley dealership since 1984! No surprise they moved Indian into their place though which is good for me as the two nearest dealers I'd dealt with are gone.

Welcome to Retail 101; it's all about position, being visible and getting "some piece of the pie", vs. no pie at all. Just look at a lot of Home Depot and Lowe's stores in key urban areas....they are sometimes on the same block and across the street from each other. Ditto for most the national burger and donut chains. Better to sell "something" than nothing........and these people have done their marketing research......they all know what they are doing. Most of the HD dealers that are closing are out "in the woods"; no traffic, no visibility, no options and few buyers. It's all about sales. No sales=no business.

They know they can sell them.

Many are taking on huge debt, forced by corporate. Some say that is why they are closing down

I worry Polaris is doing same thing to Indian dealers

The same thing is happening in San Antonio Texas. There are many different power sports types and brands in the same showroom. It’s a bit overwhelming when you first walk inside. No longer a stand-alone Indian dealership.

It does seem strange that there would be Indian and HD in the same store, but other power sport brands are combined at the same dealerships, so maybe it does make more sense. My go-to dealer sells multiple types of powersports equipment, but has a dedicated area of their huge store for the Indian motorcycles too (along with a dedicated Indian salesperson who is knowledgeable). I have purchased a can-am Spyder (wife), a couple of snowmobiles and my Indian, and have found them very easy to work with, along with great pricing. I think I am done with stand alone Indian dealerships at this point.

My go-to Indian dealership is Tytler Cycle of DePere Wisconsin. They are a multi-line dealer as well. I've always been happy going to them. The service has been good over the last 11 years that I have been riding Indian motorcycles.
