I installed the 500-093 springs in my 2017 Indian Scout as that is what they sent with my rear shocks.. I've been re-reading Dark Scouts article and realize I may have the wrong for my weight. the 500-093 are for heavier riders as per his article. I weigh 155lbs and fall in the range for th 500-014 springs. Would I notice a significant difference by changing the springs to 500-014? The front end just seems so stiff. I guess this is why my spacer ended being 35.5 mm to achieve a 33mm rider sag. If I change the springs what length spacer would I need. (I'm the same guy that thought about upgrading to 2018 fork assemblies. I decided not to do that and try to fix what I have.) CALLING DARK SCOUT!

Hi ipaint

I don't have a listing for P/n 500-093 do you mean P/n 500-931 as they are 400 mm long with an OD of 32 with a max 14.2 N/mm and 014 spring 400 long with an OD 31.7 with a max 9.1 N/mm in the scout.

And yes by the looks of your riders weight you should have installed 014 fork springs with a 52 mm pre load spacer to start with, then fine tune the spacer length to your riders sag settings and used 20wt fork oil and for you I would suggest 140 to 130 air gap due to your sports bike style riding.

If you have installed 931 fork springs then yes the front will be overly hard and will give you head shake at high speeds on sharp impacts and poor cornering, the scout will not handle as well as the front will be sitting up to high.
