You can do this but PLEASE make sure you have a bright and comfortable workspace. I did fine because I bailed on my cold, dark, shed and squeezed it into the kitchen. Made all the difference!

I did heated grips on my ‘14 Vintage … luckily for me the ‘14’s came prewired for heated grips … it’s wasn’t a difficult job … I just need to give them some slack to connect … and clean the connectors with contact cleaner …
Nice! I saw the instructions said if you have a '14 skip ahead a bunch of steps. I wasn't as lucky😤

I got them from Amazon but they're on eBay too. If you're interested go ahead and get them because they're not always available. They can't be bought from Indian anymore. A dealer must be clearing out old stock.

Thanks - just ordered from Bair's. Appreciate the help!

I noticed on Amazon a reviewer commented that the end caps are not included - if that is the case, can I reuse the end caps on the current grips (it is a 2016)

I just received the grips from Bair's. The kit is supposed to come with 2 different switch types, one for MY 14-16 and another for after that. Unfortunately, the kit I received only has the one for after. The difference is that the earlier model switch has 1 plug, the other has 2 plugs. Does anyone know if I can get this to work?

EDIT: talked to Bair's and they are going to send me the switch. Apparently this has happened before so they seem to know what to do. BUT, in case that does not work, if there is a way to make the 2 plug work by splicing some wires, I would love to learn. Thanks

for 2 days i have been trying to get the nacelle back on. I can't get the 4 bolt holes lined up. I actually stripped two of them already so I am debating trying to just crank them in or take it to a friend's to re-thread. what a massive PITA. Any tips appreciated

Correct the threads, Always start the screws by hand, Ball End Allen Sockets, Patience

The screws are a little offset on the Nacelle and are not a straight shot and cannot be correctly installed with a staight squared off allen socket wrench set. You should either use a socket joint or a ball end allen to get the correct angle while inserting the screws. Also, Start all of the screws before you tighten any one of them.

I've had my Nacelle off 4 times, and each time putting it back on was a severe test of patience. Ideally, a temporary second set of hands on the other side of where you are working is the simplest way to get it done, if another pair of hands is out of the question, I found success in a single bolt started on the low end of one side, then move to the other side and get an upper bolt started, then just moving to each side as necessary. But yeah, it can be a real test.

Thanks for bringing up that horrible memory for me :)

I added some Dirty Bird mid rise bars to my RM back before Indian had some mid rise bars available. You might run into a problem on your install. On the end of the bars the RM bars have a notch on the end of them to give room for the wires coming out of the heated grips. Without that you can feel some resistance in moving the throttle because the heating wires will rub on the ends of the bar opening. I had to take mine back apart because the Dirty Bird bars did not have that notch and I had to go back and add them so the wires had enough room. If you want I can take some pics to show this notch. You might end up having these short out otherwise. Dean
