How do you get the Bars back further?

I have a problem with my 2015 Chieftain. I've been trying to make this bike comfortable for me to ride for the last 7 months without success. I've changed seats, Corbin, Mustang and finally a Russell Day Long. The Russell Day Long finally solved my 'butt' and lower back problems, but I still have pain in my upper back after riding about 30-40 minutes. In talking with Russell seats guy and others, almost all point to bars needing to come back further to be comfortable. Problem is I've already put the 'Pullback' bars (Indian's) on the bike and I know of no other way to move these bars back. Does anyone have any suggestions on a way to resolve this problem?? I'm at the point where I'm ready to get rid of the Indian, but it seems a shame to do that just because the bars are too far a reach for me. Help !!

Personally?
I'm thinking about rollin with the Beach Bars.
They look like they would solve your problem too.

Anyone with Beach Bars wanna offer some input?

I am 5'7" and have the beachbars on my vintage, when I test rode the vintage with the standard handlebars I had to reach for them and also did not like the angle it put my wrist at...I do like my beachbars no problem reaching them , had the dealer install them at delivery....I am very happy with them......

I'm pretty sure Beach Bars will not work on a Chieftain. I don't see any room to use any kind of risers because of the fairing. You can barely get to the stock risers to adjust the back two bolts for up/down bar adjustments.

Ditto what cw1 said . . . I'm 6' 6" and had beach bars on my '03 and have them on my '15 Vintage as well - hardly had to develop any new muscle memory at all . . . you'd think someone at Indian/Polaris would have a solution for you.

Maybe a custom set of bars are needed. Do you have the stockers for a template and have them made for a reduced reach more than the reduced reach Indian bars? Just a thought.

Custom bars seem about the only way I can think of too, But they would require lengthening the wire harnesses and brake line ad clutch cable extensions. Quite an undertaking. Does anyone know who would do a set of custom bars ?? It seems that somewhere, someone has had to put a set of ApeHangers on a Chieftain. Anyone out there who's done that? How'd you do it?

I understand that the 15 RM has different pull back bars than the stock Chieftain bars, you may check that out.

I also have Beach Bars on my Vintage and there's some extra slack in the wires and cables but not much.

I had them raise my bars 1.5-2"(all the space available) or so on my RM as I thought they were too low, they feel better but could stand to be about 1/2" back still but I can use them much better now.

In one thread (forget which) a comparison photo was taken of the stock bars with the reduced-reach (longer) bars. About two inches, as advertised, BUT the same width at the grips. I wonder if your current reduced-reach bars can be custom bent to a narrower guage? Maybe that wouold help?

I was wondering the same thing. I still have the original bars on my Chieftian and also have a bad back. I drivers backrest helps but I would like to get some pull back and rise on the bars. Was thinking about the longer Indian bars like on the RM but after reading some posts on here I'm not sure if they are worth it.

I did just order Kuryakyn ISO grips to help with my hands and wrists for the longer rides.

Well , Gentlemen , when you reply with " Spendy " , on prices of the best Adjustable handlebars ever , Yes they are expensive , but what Isn't when it comes to our " Sleds " ,, I have set of Helibars on my Road glide , I am short with short arms and Now I put my handlebars where I want them , No More arm, shoulder or back Pain, . Can Pull over and adjust them real quick for different style riding like mountain's curves or what ever . If you worry about the Price of Heli-bars , then don't complain about stock handlebars being uncomfortable . Most stock bars are rarely made Comfortable

There is a brand new set of Helibars on ebay. BIN for 648.00 a customer ordered and didnt have the money to buy. Its cheaper to pay that price then buy a new bike and start over with the same problems.

Yes ,that one on Ebay is Mine , I had Krome Werks , 2+ 2+ , and from tip to tip were 34 1/2 inches wide . Horizon Helibars are design to extend , forward , which is out , from tip to tip about 34 inches .. when grips are pulled back all the way , tip to tip , 29 inches , You have 3 bolts on each side to loosen up to adjust the handlebars 3 different ways . You'd think fitting a new bar on would be simply. Sadly my brain isn't getting it. So, I can put a universal bar on my Scout as long a it's 7/8's, right? Do I need to know anything else? I found a handle bar that I like okay, vintage pre -77. Not quite beachy but enough for now...and hella cheap.

Look at new klockwerks chieftain bars.... In production and should be out in a few weeks. The design is similar to what they do for Harley on their website. You can adjust from knuckles on exposed bars....I saw them at bike week on their bike.
