Today I finally got the full stage 1 and 2 installed along with the first service.
I got the parts at the same time when the bike was bought but wanted to wait till at least the first service. This way I can compare what it feels like from stock. Not to mention I wanted the engine to settle in before any modifications.

Boy I can tell ya I love the way the engine idles (rough but not?). I love the exhaust note (indian slip-ons) low rumble even at higher RPM's not like my Scout which seems like no matter what exhaust I put on (Indian slip-ons, Bassani full exhaust, freedom, Indian full 2-1) it sounds very raspy especially at higher RPM's.

Power difference to me is amazing! At stock I've been riding in sport mode the last 200 kilometers before service. I switched it back to standard mode when picked up because 1: it was wet out and 2: a lot of torque. Though I got use to it and switched back to sport mode. She can really get going!

It is smoother and has a more linear power up the RPM range. It is a bit easier to Rev match while down shifting in standard mode. Sport mode does this effortlessly.

Not sure if I like it or not but it does backfire quite a bit when decelerating. So far I do but just worried about getting a VI.
Been thinking about doing the Lloydz tune but have been reading about denied warranties from blown heads on bikes with Lloydz tune.

Anyway those were my thoughts. So far no issues electrically or mechanically .
All I can say is...this is one of my favorite bikes ever!

The Chief lineup, like all 2023 Thunderstroke and PowerPlus models, receives a new clutch – improving the overall feel and forgiveness. This new slipper clutch reduces engine drag which provides a smoother down shifting experience and comfortable ride while improving your ability to maintain traction when facing poor road conditions. Lastly, the larger friction zone and decreased lever effort reduces your clutch fatigue, which can be beneficial in urban areas or when riding in traffic.

To be honest, I did not like how the oem clutch engages so far out. I did however remedied that by installing adjustable PSR shorty levers. I've had many bikes without a slipper clutch and although it may help me be a better rider, I don't really feel the need of having one.
That being said, there's nothing wrong for a person wanting it.

You know what based on the specs on the website, the 2023 Chief might not even be getting the clutch update. At least 5 articles said it would but the specs still just show only Wet, multi-disc, where as the chieftain shows Wet, multi-disc Assist.

I'm planning on going stage 2 after a few K miles once my engine is broken in. Gotta ride all the way over to Arizona to get it done though. I don't see an exhaust option in black for my 22 chief bobber. Is this correct? I want to maintain my factory warranty for the time being, and i'm guessing installing an aftermarket exhaust would cause warranty issues when going stage 2?

Good to hear. I've been on the fence about doing Stages One and Two but this might help me decide. The backfire popping might mean you need to tighten up the exhaust as air can get pulled in at a loose connection and cause the popping sounds.

I also was hesitant about getting it done. Stage 1 for sure but undecided about stage 2.
The reason I went ahead with it is it was part of the deal with the purchase of the bike. I figure if it's an OEM indian part and has been installed by them, if anything goes wrong it's on them to fix.

Thanks for the tip on the exhaust. I'll torque them down and see what happens!
( you would figure they would check all/most nuts and bolts on the first service!)

I read it in one of the Challenger forums. Forgot where. Just worried that if anything happens I don't want to be denied warranty.

Unlike my scout with the PV3, I can tune it back to stock before bringing it in.
