Changing my PIN

It was disappointing to open my owner's manual for my Challenger Motorcycle and find that the instructions for changing the pin is for a Roadmaster. I've done multiple searches and cannot find the answer. Can someone advise me how to change the Pin on a Challenger.

Without the master pin, you cannot do it. Supposedly the dealer should give you that when they deliver the bike. Mine did not. They weren't even sure what I was talking about. They had to take the bike back into the service shop and reprogram it. I then took that new master PIN and used it to set my own personal one.

To change your PIN you must have either the Key FOB or your existing valid PIN available to gain access to the security system.

Check your Challenger owners manual, the process for changing your PIN is on Page 139 & 140. As long as you have the Key FOB for the bike you can change the existing PIN number without knowing what the existing PIN number is.

I haven't changed my PIN number since I purchased the bike but I thought when you access the security system the four digit PIN number is exposed on the screen. This way as long as you have the KEY fob you can change or reset it anytime you like.

When I bought my Indian used I didn't receive my PIN. I took my 19 Roadmaster into the dealership not knowing the old one and they were able to change it to what I had requested with no issues. With the Challenger being new I'd imagine they can just hook their computers up to change it for you.

They have the default key stored in their system. That's how they're able to reset it so easily. It's also why some of them recommend that you leave it the same so it wouldn't matter what dealer you're at, you can get it serviced without the fob.

The pin for your bike is not in your owner's manual. It is noted in the delivery checklist / sales document you received. It's in the bottom of the page. At least that's where I found mine.. You'll need this "master pin" in order to change it on the Ride Command. Then it's an easy change.

^^^^^^^^^^ Correct. You need the master pin to change it. Unfortauntely my master pin was nowhere to be found and the dealerhsip didn't know it. So they had to reprogram it for me. Once they did, I was then able to use that new master pin to create my personal pin (via ride command).

I don't know if this is happening anywhere else but here in Australia the dealers have been told not to hand out the master pin. The reason is that if somebody was to sell the bike, even if the new owner put in a new user PIN, the original owner could then go and change the user pin and ride the bike away. When my dealer did the gear sensor recall and flash they had to program in a user PIN for me. When I asked for the master PIN they told me that the anti-theft thing was a fairly recent directive from head office.

That's a poor excuse. Things like those Databases get stolen all the time. If the dealer had access, the chance is even higher. Best practice is to have a pin that can be changed and disables the old one.

Necro thread dredge.

I've tried all of the processes on my new Challenger Elite, and the reset just will not occur (I don't have any master PIN etc, but I have the fob, and I follow the handbook).

Has anyone managed to change their PIN without the master PIN on their later model year Challenger yet? Thanks

I have a 2020 Challenger Elite. I haven't tried to change the PIN as of yet. But...., just as a heads up, my owner's manual that came with the bike has a page in it for the PINs and the dealer wrote in both the master PIN and also the PIN they set for the bike owner. I tore that page out and keep it in the house because I carry my owner's manual in a saddlebag and if someone got into the saddlebag they would find the owner's manual with both PINs written in.

I wasn't able to change the PIN just using the FOB on my Chieftain or Roadmaster but hadn't tried it on my Challenger. For S&G I just did. I was able to access the change passcode menu under the General menu. After selecting change passcode I was prompted for my current passcode and couldn't go on without entering it.

One thing, I was able to call my dealer and they could look up my master PIN online. They do know me so it wasn't an issue. I'm not sure if I could call any dealer and get it with the VIN for security reasons; at least I hope that I couldn't. If I could then I would be worried that someone could get my code with just my VIN.

I've tried changing it on my Springfield but no luck. Mine has a comb emergency flasher/ signal cancel button. Whenever do the step that says hold cancel button in. All that happens is the flashers come on. I only tried it once. I'll try again someday.
