Coming from my Vic XC, I felt, like others, the need for more room on the Chieftain, even though I am 5’9. I thought the stock seat felt good, but was hoping that it would settle in as the miles rolled on. After 7k miles, I decided to research seats and decided on the Corbin. The main selling point for me was setting me back while at the same time having a narrow front section for stopping/putting my feet down.

First ride around the block the other day, I had my doubts as it sits up an inch higher and back 2 inches per Corbin. Just felt different. Today was able to put a little over 300 miles and got a much better feel for it. A few observations:

The seat settled in quickly, I don’t feel as high as I did at first. I feel more “in” the bike than “on” it, making turning and handling more nimble. The much improved leg room is awesome. I can also still stop flat footed.

I was surprised by less noticeable heat under me, by my guesstimate of 10% or so (it was 82 degrees today).

I feel the support and firmness of the seat is what I needed for lower back support, felt great the more I rode. The seat is actually much softer than expected after reading reviews.

The quality of the Corbin is top notch and personally looks the best out of all that are available.

I have read horror stories and complaints with customer service. My experience was quite different as the sales team was great to work with and very knowledgeable. I called a few days later to have them black out the Corbin logo, which was no problem and when I called to check the status, they told me exactly where it was in production. Total wait time was 18 days.

Overall I am thrilled with Corbin and next to the PVCX, feel it is the best purchase I have made.

Been thinking about a Corbin for the same reasons you stated and am glad to hear your positive remarks. Thinking of getting the heated and cooling but have'nt heard any reports yet on that one. I had a 94 HD Road King I put a Corbin on and it was one of the most comfortable seats I've ever had.

I seriously was considering the heated/cooled seat, but man these engines put out enough heat as it is. I was pleasantly surprised by some heat reduction.
I always end up choosing the Corbin for my bikes. But you are correct that this seat is not nearly as firm as any previous Corbin I've owned. Not that I disliked or found any of them uncomfortable.
Yeah, after reading reviews I was expecting a really hard surface. The leather is top notch and soft.
Although I ride an Ultimate and love it, I have to admit that Corbin, IMHO, makes the best looking seat available.
I really do like the Ultimate and was my other possible choice. They make a nice quality product as well. It is nice having options for different seats.

Thanks for the review, Ace. The saddle looks really good. I had a Corbin on my old bike and loved it
Is your Dual Tour the one with the wide or narrow passenger seat? Do you know if the Indian passenger backrest and driver backrest can be used with this one?

Mine is the narrower rear seat to accommodate the quick release backrest from Indian, and it fits fine. They make 2 versions, one narrower that works and one wider that does not work with backrest. My wife seems to like the rear seat width compared to stock.

I have been looking at a new seat this morning, this helps... what about the passenger comfort?

wife and I did about 200 miles on stock seat, all was fine except the last 20 mile, both of us had pain on the bottom of our spines, not good..

If you are comfortable with the stock setback you can have your stock seat rebuilt by Astech. It will be way more comfortable but you'll also be stuck with the stock leather which will eventually have issues. The Corbin has more setback, much better leather quality and my wife actually likes the slightly narrower rear seating position. She felt the stock seat forced to spay her legs out too far. I can tell you that the seat itself is far, far more comfortable on long rides. My longest so far is 500 miles in one day and I felt great afterwards. There is no way I could ride the stock seat over 100 miles without feeling the pain.

great feedback - I am 6'1" so I can use a bit more setback in the seat. Wife does not complain about the width - she does wish for a bit more height and she wants longer floor boards which would allow her to move her legs more so she does not get so stiff.

I would expect you've dropped the passenger bracket down to it's lowest position? My wife has a 34" inseam and with the bracket dropped and the Indian billet passenger boards she is pretty content back there.

you got, I have dropped them down, I went to the local indian dealer, they could not tell me if the billet boards were any larger. Service guy was going to order a set for another customer and let me know (dough he would call) any way - my wife has a 32 inseam and it s good to hear your wife is happy with the billet boards...

Does the corbin mount the same way as the stock chieftain seat or does it have an oddball setup like the ultimate?
Doesn't look like it sits on the tank like the ultimate either.

Doesn’t sit on tank, has wrapped leather tongue that slides in like stock. It also does not use side bolts like stock, just one seat bolt on rear fender. Hope this helps.
