I guess I never tried. I have an Android S10+, if I want to keep it charged I put it into the saddlebag, and hook up the power source in there. Just another option.

Good suggestions. Here's what I tried. I used my work phone, which is an S20. It worked fine. So I think it's an issue with the new Samsung S21s. I did seem to find a fix. If you let the S21 reboot, but don't swipe or put in your password and just let it sit and charge for a couple of minutes and then put in your PIN and let it finish rebooting, it seems to stay on.

I also noticed that it estimates 3 hours and 45 minutes to charge the phone from 47% to 100%. This is very slow. Seems that the Indians have a low amperage USB installed in the glovebox, even on the 2020s. This is a miss by Indian. New phones take more energy to charge and to run. I doubt the charge will keep up with the drain on long rides.

Eh, most cars don't have QC 3.0 either, they're almost always 1 or 2amp chargers at most.

 

Samsung Ultra S20 Plus. Just started doing this. I had no issues for months. 2021 Chieftan Darkhorse. I suspect latest update or a recent app. Tik Tok, HomeDepot or Filmic Pro

 

Does the phone feel hot the phone battery could be overheating when it reaches a certain temp in an enclosed space phone will shutdown.

 

This isn't really a reply I'm just bought a 2021 Indian Challenger Limited and that right thing on the fairing has that cable I didn't go into it yet I'm picking it up tonight it's used but does a Samsung the way the cord is does that fit in there or only an Apple phone? Am I going to have to get a different cable that fits in there I just want to know before I go and pick it up thank you

 

There you go... proof that an Android doesn't want to cooperate with an Indian.

If you don't have a charging port in the saddle bag install one. Second, if that doesn't resolve your issues....well, the salvation lies with Apple!

 

Tx for your Apple non sense. It's the latest Android update that causes the issue. Polaris says buy a new phone to someone else. That's a lazy answer. Sounds like Polaris needs a new update as well.

I just got the 2021 Challenger Limited and I have an old phone I don't want a 5G phone I use my LG Tone you know it goes around your neck I like the way that goes in your ear and I can hear it noise canceling I can answer the phone and it keeps the wind out of my ears so I've always used that for quite a while since they've had them but it's cool to be able to charge the phone up in the in the bike so is there a way for my it's an s 7 4G Samsung and I have no problem with the phone I wonder if it'll work in that cubby hole but I guess if it doesn't I'll just plug it into the US dollar the cigarette lighter Port under the right hand bag

 

You could always buy something like this which should eliminate your phone from resetting, but allow it to charge.

It's unfortunate that you have the issue.
Everyone blames someone else is standard for software companies like Google and Apple.
Bet you they solve it in the next updates, which doesn't do a damn thing for you now.

Don't allow, on the phone, the RC to control the phone. You'll be prompted once power goes to the phone. It prevents the shutdown from happening. And yes, the plug in the dash does charge the phone.

 

I guess that I really don't understand why there is such an issue. Everyone should be aware that the '20 and newer Indians with RC can support Carplay. That has officially been released from Indian. What has not been released is Indian's support for Android Auto. I know that a lot of riders would like to have this capability and it may come with time. But, for now it's Carplay only.

The primary function of the cable in the dashbox is for data transfer from a USB memory stick or an iPhone. It does have the ability to dual function and provide some non QC 3.0 charging through the RC unit, but it is intended for data transfer. If you choose to charge your phone with this and your phone detects that it is a data line, your non Apple phone will act accordingly. This is NOT an issue with your Indian motorcycle. If you don't want to respond to your phones prompt, and you still want to use this cable as a charging cable, then just purchase a data block cable like I linked to in the previous reply.

 

Caprock, you Rock. That cord works! I can charge my phone, play music, change channels and no more reboots! Android even had an update. It rebooted after the update without that cord. No more shutting down. My phone has worked with the Chieftan for over 5000 miles. So it does work w Android just fine. It didnt matter if you allowed connection to the Chieftan by hitting ok or not, the phone used to reboot. Now, problem is solved thanks to Caprock!

 

I have a 2020 Darkhorse as well. I have a Galaxy Note 10 plus. It always worked just fine until the last time I rode the bike. Then I started having the same issue. It just kept resetting thr phone constantly. I'll try your tip next time of not touching it for a few minutes. Hopefully that'll work. It's beyond frustrating

 

 

My 2021 Indian Challenger Limited does the something with the new Samsung. The S20 had no issues, it just the new S21.

 

My Galaxy S10 did it, but just got an S22, and it doesn't do it.

 

Use to not happen with my S10+ until this pass year same thing as you said... have a S22+ now and it does the same thing. I think it is something in the phone software.
