I would have advised you to avoid any updates. It seems everyone who does the updates regrets them immediately. I also have a 21, and the software, in my opinion, works pretty dang OK enough.

I’m a glutton for punishment. I really don’t rely on RC for much other than to launch Car Play. Just curious what the update contained.

 

While some updates install new problems, if you don't keep your software up to date sooner or later, things won't work. Phones, intercoms etc rely on the things they work with to be somewhat up to date.

 

I guess there was a new ride command update yesterday. First time in over 14 months-ish.

I installed it. My wayfar Apple CarPlay streaming device still worked after. IMO the screens seem to load faster. It’s raining and 30 out right now so I didn’t go for a ride but everything seems to work.

I’m not sure but hand controls makes me think you can use the controls on the handlebars to control it on the screen now.

 

I wonder if I update mine, if it will force me into the subscription for RC so o can still use CarPlay. Does anyone know the answer?

 

I have a 21 Challenger DH. Apple Car play works for me still, I don’t have a subscription. I think you have to buy that option on a basic model, but I’m not sure. Def wouldn’t update unless I knew for sure if you have challenger base model.

 

Yeah, I have a base 2020 base model. I’ll ask next week while the bike is at the dealer for the recall.

 

If you didn’t buy the modem with the bike(base models did not come with it) you will lose CarPlay. I installed the November 23 update and lost it had to resort back to the previous software to get it back.

 

I just updated my 24 RM Elite and the display seems a little quicker, but I did not get some features they advertised:

• Integration of hand controls to badge panel within 7” display (Ride mode, fog light, and heated accessory controls)

 

I haven’t tried this yet, but my understanding is you should be able to use the controls on the handlebar now to access these features. I don’t think it added new icons or anything, which is what I thought at first too.

 

I was having a problem where routes created on the Indian website were not synching to the bike and the below error message would appear when trying to manually synching from bike. The recent update fixed all this and routes are now automatically synching to the bike once again.

I was experiencing the same thing last August '24. After a few weeks of back and forth emails and texts with a ride command tech I gave up. I was told an update was coming out but they couldn't tell me when. I did get my yearly subscription charge refunded by surprise. So if the above problem is fixed I guess and can renew my subscription without worry.

OK, I called customer service, and they were not able to give details on how the hand control features integrate with the badge panel. But they will get some answers and call me back. As soon as I hear back, I will post the details here.

They have always worked, on my 21 they are fully functional. They toggle up and down and clear certain functions.

 

I am attempting to install the update (a first for me) and I’m getting things message on the update software screen. The software release listed is certainly not the latest. I did confirm that I have the update on a properly formatted thumb drive.
Any advice?

 

Download to thumbdrive, then insert thumbdrive to bike. Navigate to screen for Update Software on Ride Command under General tab.
Select the downloaded file and it ill install in a few minutes. The automatic download may take a few tries to get.

 

I went back out to the garage after posting this and the update appeared on the screen and installed properly.

Just did the update and my connected services disappeared. I'll give it until Monday and then call. Good times.

 

Figured it out. The Location Services has a toggle that got turned off in the update. Weather and traffic working again. If this happens to you, hit the "learn more" link on the map layers page.

 

I just did the install. Hopefully it will fix some of the issues I have such as bike saying my subscription since Sept 2024 even though I renewed and get the map overlays, bluetooth ride download issues, no notifications, and not recognizing my bike on the website account or app since the last update in Nov 2023.

So before posting, I checked on some things within the website, app, and bike. I think the last update had added some privacy features that were left unchecked. Probably why the bike wasn't being recognized. You would think after months of correspondence with Indian that they would have mentioned this. Anyway, I checked those boxes on the bike, logged out of all accounts and apps on bike, website and phone. Logged back in on all, had to reactivate the bike on the website, and now the website and the app are syncing again with the bike with correct mileage, fuel, etc. Whoopee!!!

 

I can +1 that the update does NOT disable carplay for those of us who originally had it, but did not subscribe to any extra ride command after the initial 2 year period. I just updated that and updated the iphone to 18.3.1, so fingers crossed that no bugs got added to any software.

Updated, no issues works perfectly

 

For the first time since I bought my Challenger in 2021, everything is working. I have to say, Owners Connection has been very helpful in ironing out a few things but overall I’m happy. I hope that more new features get added and it doesn’t take 14 months to push another update. Maps are still overdue for an update and until they allow more waypoints and other features such as layover and departure times, I’ll continue to use Inroute as my main navigation app through CarPlay.

 

I installed it via thumb drive and rode for about 2 hours. No problems.

 

I have a 21 roadmaster and just updated the software and maps. Everything worked fine. One thing to remember is in order to get the traffic back on. You have to hit the map button on the bike. Click on the layers where the Weather toggle is and click on traffic. for some reason it resets to null. after that, everything worked fine.

 

Thanks to all that went before me in updating the RC software. I updated mine last night and it works as expected.

 

I installed this update a few days ago and finally had time to go for a ride on my Pursuit yesterday. Everything worked great for most of the ride (45 mintues each way to and from a destination) and then after a fuel stop neither my phone nor my helmet bluetooth paired correctly with the ride command. After getting both of them paired and music playing, the helmet unpaired about 3 minutes into my ride home.

I never had issues like this with the prior software (which was loaded on the bike when I bought it back in December).

Some people have suggested that if you have issues you should reinstall the same version of the software. As an IT professional and someone with a Computer Science degree, I'm not sure how installing the same bits is supposed to change anything, but I'll give it a shot.

When these update packages come out, is there typically a follow up bug fix release soon after? If so, how long does it usually take to be released?

 

It has been 14 months since the last update. I would download the previous version (Nov 2023) just in case.

Since I have installed the update I can finally say most everything is working as it should. There are still a few minor bugs in how the iOS app displays bike info and owners connection is looking into it.

I just went on a 1300 mile ride and everything worked great. That being said, I use CarPlay for most everything such as music, phone calls, texts and navigation. I do use a wireless adapter from AutoSky so I don't need to plug in my phone. I also use a Sena SRL 3 bluetooth unit. I do not pair my phone with the bike. The only thing paired with the bike is by Sena. With this setup I have had zero issues.
