Has anyone removed the exhaust cover on their front header pipe? There are 3 Center Punch hose clamps holding the unit in place.
My question is this: If I were to remove (cut the clamps) the cover, can I replace the existing clamps with the "Worm Gear Hose Clamp" variety?

I need to make an adjustment on the cover but don't want to open a can of worms by severing the existing clamps only to find out that the typical worm gear clamp won't fit. All of the other clamps (securing the exhaust covers) on my 2018 Roadmaster are the worm gear type. I can't figure out why Indian chose to use the center punch clamps on the front header pipe.

Thanks,
Greg

Yes, works just fine. You can get different width worm-gear clamps too.

They use them because they are cheap (materials and labor to install) and effective from a manufacture process.

You can use typical worm gear clamp for all exhaust covers (with different length). Check the thermal pads before installing the screen. They may be damaged by vibration. I changed it on my motorcycle - I used a piece of asbestos cloth.
