Windshield height

I bought the 2020 Challenger and it had a very tall windshield. I had the dealer swap it out for something smaller. I now have a Klock Werks 11" flare windshield and its still too high for me. I've never felt this short! At its lowest I am just looking over it and I am 5'8.5" tall. I am contemplating cutting the very tall original windshield down to 6" tall. MY only real question is are there any aftermarket windshields that tall. I saw one on a Chieftain that looked super low. I have had good luck with cutting down windshields on previous bikes. Has any one cut theirs to 6"? I feel I will get some air on my helmet at low setting and block the air well at high.

I wouldn't, When you say its too tall what do you mean we are the same height and I have no issues riding my buddies Challenger nor my Chieftain I have a 14" windshield on my Chieftain and he has a 12" on his challenger

Klockwerks does make an 8" windshield but that's it once retracted it'll be super low

With the Klockwerks 11" on the low setting I just look over it. Raised up I am looking through it

Can anyone tell me how tall the stock windshield is? I’m 5,7 and waiting on my challenger to arrive. Just trying to get this sorted before it arrives.

Freedom Shields... they have down to a 7" shield.. the "base" non-optional windshield from indian on the challenger is 8"... so if its taller then its an optional shield... i cant recommend freedom shields enough... get one from them.. put it on your bike.. if you dont like it.. send it back for a different one or a full refund.. their policy and customer service is stellar... im running an 11" on mine.. im 6'1

I have a freedom 9" on the way! I'm 6'1" but the stocker is close to good for me so figured +1" and recurve should be good to go
That’s the same one I have and it’s literally perfect for me. But I’m 6’. I never put it up all the way. Just high enough to see the cutout then I’m good to go anywhere. Love it

I’m 5’ 91/2 and I have the 7” Windvest. i replaced an 8” Klockwerks because I didn’t like the Mushroom Head look when it was up. I’ve had Windvests on a couple Vics and they are an outstanding value at $170. They look just like the Freedom Shield with a nice flip. I don’t get any buffeting with the short 7” Windvest either. I put the 8.5" KW on mine and found it buffeted my helmet weirdly (I'm 5'10") until I switched to a taller Saddlemen seat. Honestly the stock low Indian one was the least buffet-y but it just wasn't as good looking.

I think a lot of us just wanted a little more... I got the Freedom and it's a little wider with a flip. I think I get a little more headspace but it's more turbulent above. My wife never rode with me before I changed mine so I'm not sure how it affected the passenger.

i’ve never had a bike with a fairing or windshield so i don’t know how much lack of wind i should expect or be happy with. i have both klockwerks. 8” looks the best and i plan to use in the summer when i can use the extra breeze. bought the 11” next and while it obviously blocks more wind, i still feel/hear a decent amount with it all the way up. not a problem for daily riding but for long trips i think that amount of buffering would get annoying.
just posting for anyone else in the market….i’m 6’2 with a roadsofa.
at this point i’m looking for a very tall freedom to only be used on long trips. unless i just have incorrect expectations for how much wind to feel

does anyone have advice on a 13” or 15” freedom? haven’t seen any pics…would it block substantially more wind than the 11” klockwerks? i know it would look a little crazy but again only for max protection on long trips…

just ordered the 15” before reading this. i feel like if i went 13” i would have always wondered how much MORE protection the 15” would give me so i guess now i’ll be able to see what max protection feels like… by sweet spot do you mean 13 would have offered more protection or just that it would have also worked well while being more streamlined…?
also since my passenger obviously sits both higher and further back i’m assuming that a taller shield is needed to help her out vs what would just be needed to block wind for me

I see over the 15’ in the fully down position just fine, but would prefer it to be just a tad lower and the lower shield gives a better aesthetic look in my opinion. I definitely think my wife will appreciate the taller shield and probably eliminate any buffering she may have experienced. Really like the quality of the Freedom shield.
