Who has changed out the Scout grips/or plans to do so?

I'm looking for grips that are thicker, but still have the Indian vibe. The ability to add a throttle boss down the line would also be nice. Am I asking too much? ; - )

Getting these grips too, could be here by end of this week.

I got their Spear foot pegs, not the mini floorboards, a year and a half ago but didn't put them on immediately. That thin little spring ring holding the Indian pegs was awful, I finally gave up prying at it and filed it off! I was still able to reuse the pin (with insignificant filing divot on groove) and put a circlip on there.
And of course, you need the pair of splined adapters.

Reminded myself of something else, I couldn't get the D spacers to fit so left those out. Pegs are on the loose side of things, not foldable to stay up, but have been okay during riding.

The installation instructions for the grips show the throttle tube side going on easily, after opening control up.
No mention of taking off original grip and gluing new grip onto tube, so I'm expecting it to have its own tube already fitted together. Otherwise I would not have ordered them, I didn't want to tear apart the original grip from its tube.

I never found any of this style in chrome that had the throttle with the tube already there. I just installed mine last week.

:( Sorry to hear of that trouble, if it was for you.

Well, they got here Tuesday afternoon. :D Surprised me. No email about it except the order number from Monday morning, and I got them direct from Kuryakyn.
Part number 5628, chrome. And the black version is 5634.
My photo using flash here makes them look black so please ignore that and imagine them as both mirror-finished and black rubber. The pictures at Kuryakyn and some other places show them with the throttle tube, too, but some places are apparently selling the tubeless type, or part number 5636, so beware of that.

Going back to this OP question from 4 years ago...

After I put the Kuryakyn Spear grips on I thought I would give the Throttle Boss idea a try, taking it off the Kuryakyn ISO grip I have on my Yamaha.
Although I've only had a Crampbuster on my Scout a fairly short time, I really like it and the throttle boss was a great thing too.

It would apparently fit the Spear grip, if not for a sort of heel section. See picture, orange highlight. The blue arrows also point to it and where it needs to align with grip end.

I think I will shave it down with a grinder. Which I wouldn't do if I could have found a ready-made version. Didn't see anything specifically for the throttle side Spear grip. However, there is another type for other grips, and maybe it could fit too. Kuryakyn just says it might require spacer ring(s) for those other grips.

One other thing, while holding the TB with left hand I checked on how my right hand would rest on it. Not much size to this TB... and it's way on the outer end of the grip. Unsure what this setup would be like on the road with only the outside edge of palm twisting on it. I only know it worked good on the Yamaha ISO grip.
