Who has changed out the Scout grips/or plans to do so?

I'm looking for grips that are thicker, but still have the Indian vibe. The ability to add a throttle boss down the line would also be nice. Am I asking too much? ; - )

I want to look into the lever and fork wraps. Ronnie is a great guy.

Nice picture, Meggie!

I can't imagine myself riding on that rigid chassis. Such a painful!

And cool handlebar. Which?
Wow, all the discussions about performance suspension and you just showed a picture of the exact opposite! How does the bobber seat take the excess shock? I am guessing the sprung seats I have seen from Mothers(?) would work well too, but that set up would not work for a passenger, huh?

fitted Scout oversize grips, tried them today ... very comfy, a huge improvement over the stock grips, which I found too narrow..

was going to fit heated grips, got sidetracked with these, they come with integrated throttle tube which was a big plus for me.

it would be normal for 7/8" grips to be 7/8" clutch side and wider than that throttle side.

I changed to the Indian oversize grips. Stock throttle side came out with the tube when the 4x screws were removed ... remember its orientation, it needs to go back on aligned the same way. I had to cut the clutch side off. When you've removed the throttle side you should be able to cut the grip off and refit the heated grip. It may need trimming down to get the heated grip on the tube, don't know ... haven't done that bit (my throttle side grip came on a throttle tube). When you've got the heated grip on the tube it should fit back in the assembly and then you fasten the 4x screws.

ps. have you thought of Oxford heated grips, they now come with a controller that turns the heat off when you stop the engine, so you can wire them direct to the battery ... they come with an inline fuse and battery connection. I have them on my Bonneville and the system works!

No problem. Regardless of what kind of bike you have (metric or american), the throttle is always bigger than the left side to allow for the throttle tube. I had a Kawasaki and now an Indian and the issue is the same, more internal clearance for the damn throttle.
So it doesn't matter what model or brand you buy, you'll be ok on the clearance because that's what the grips are build to do.

Its not the typical application, and my scout is being build in a bobber/drag style (my build series is somewhere, I need to update it today) but I'm going with black rubber motocross grips. They are thicker and more grippy than the stock grips. I always felt like I had to grip the throttle a little more to keep it from sliding back under my glove.

I was also considering these grips. Did you have any install problems?
Just use some good adhesive on the clutch side and you'll be good to go man. I think they come with some super glue but I had the left one come loose and used some gorilla glue and it was solid ever since. Great grips overall.
