New around here, got confused about starting a new topic so..... The day I brought it home. Never rode a street before, no test ride, wanted a domestic cruiser and not a HD. Had to be an Indian scout no if and or buts about it. View attachment 647998
Great choice. Scout is in a category of 1. Not a 900 pound cruiser and versatile to do many things well. I recently looked at the Chief and a Vintage at a dealer and couldn’t imagine myself on one.

My updates are not just for today but today I added copies of Indian Floorboards. These exceed any of my expectations and are the first time I’ve ever had boards on a bike. They make the riding position perfect for the 1920 seat and enable me to move on the bike very easily, getting even better lean angle.
Most of the mods have been to enhance the retro look of my Scout. Chrome headlight bucket. Chrome tail rack. Chrome brake and shift levers (actually the shift lever needed replacement when the shoulder bolt backed out and the original was dragged under the bike for 100 yards).
Stage 1 exhaust and intake. Dart Marlin Flyscreen in Clear. Indian Beach Bars. PSR chrome adjustable clutch and brake levers. Pinnacle Mirrors. USB outlet addition. Removal of passenger pegs. Beeline Navigator. MCCruise cruise control mounted under fuel tank. Eagle Lights LED headlamp. Vizible Technologies SupaBrake modulator, Indian Saddlebags (Tan) not shown. Indian Scout Logo grips coming next week.

I‘m really happy with this motorbike and with my wife who saw a picture of one 2 years ago and told me to go try one out. I never had a cruiser and probably never will but I LOVE MY SCOUT.

look forward to a difference review. I have a 2016 Scout 60.
The shocks on the 2018, even though they have a progressive spring, were harsh. The Ohlins actually dampen, making the ride much smoother. I wouldn’t call it soft and comfortable though. It is less jarring and more controlled. Because of the geometry and limited travel a Scout will never have a soft ride.

As for the preload, I gave the vendor my riding weight to specify the spring to use and the measured sag was perfect out of the box.
