On a 1500 mile trip and tooling along at 68 mph on cruise control, 2017 Springfield and without warning, the bike accelerated for a second or two and then engine shut down. Coasted to a stop and waited 30 seconds or so and re-started the bike. No problem next two days on the road, then it happened again - exactly the same symptoms. Hasn't happened again as the bike is now locked in the Garage while I enjoy some time in our new 5.0L GT Mustang for a while.
Has anyone else had a similar issue and if so what (if anything) was found to be the problem.

Did you have any codes? Sounds like an error somewhere between the throttle assembly, cruise control, clutch switch, and VCU.

Happened to me a couple times. Loose battery terminals. They were stacked so they seemed tight but they weren’t. Rearranged them so they could be tightened down properly and never had another problem.

Most likely a short somewhere as said before. And that’s most likely at the battery terminal. Second place cause might be a real issue with the ECU. And if the lights are intermittent they are not likely signaling a real problem. When they’re on steady you should get a fault code to follow up on.
