Wow just insane operating temperature on the 2016 Chieftain!

80mph for 45 miles, stopped at the overpass after turning around. ..curious about engine heat, carefully touch the front head, oh goodness, stone cold(Not exaggerating), check rear head, ever so slightly warm, check oil cooler, warm to touch, check new K&P oil filter, fairly warm but can still grasp it...check front cylinder, pretty warm, too hot to touch, no where near what I expected. ...did lots of engine upgrades to bring temps down...tuned by CraigB1960, 49°- 51° temperature helped...but front head stone cold....I'm just shocked, never seen an air cooled engine run this cool. The valve train must be happy...is this Thunder Stroke running too cool?

Which part of the head did you touch? The chrome covers on the top don't get all that warm...it's the jugs that heat up.

The chrome covers on top, the bolts holding them down were warm though.

Those tops are basically decorative so they don't get that hot...
