Threaded Bolt Missing?

283 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Deac
Took the Left side cover off to disconnect the saddlebag electrics for cleaning purposes, and saw what looks like a threaded hole. Anyone know is it supposed to be empty, or is something missing? The three grommet holes are all accounted for! Cheers.

That threaded hole is there to allow a bolt to be threaded into the shaft so that there is something to grab onto to pull out the shaft once the internal clip is removed.

A bolt would only be used during maintenance. Other than that the hole is empty.

The shaft is the top part of suspension that the shock attaches to.

Phew, that's a relief then :)
Thanks for sharing the knowledge Caprock - I know more now than I did before (y)

That’s the pin on your shock. Notice the snap ring. Remove that and you drop your swing arm to remove the wheel etc….

Thanks Rusty.
Good job I know to leave things alone then (well, at least most of the time...). Would have been embarrassing if I'd dropped the swing arm by fiddling about...
