This thread alone may have made joining worth it. I had been looking at these bags on Amazon, but the seller was saying they won't fit on a Chief Dark horse. I take it that they do fit, but other parts are also needed. If this is the case, what else is needed to make these work?

Currently I don't have a passenger backrest or luggage rack on my bike, it's straight stock save the extended Rogue seat.

You will need the sissybar/saddlebag lugs for a Chieftain or Roadmaster. They are longer and larger to handle the additional weight and stress of the hardbags and/or sissybar combination. Each lug is sold separately, and you will need 4 of them. There are a shorter, smaller set sold as a set of 4, that are for a Chief installing soft saddlebags, but don't waste your time and money on those!!!

Waiting for osprey spools to come so decided to put a Narva twin USB socket in the original hole for the cigarette plug.

Indian were crafty in their design, making their cigarette socket smaller than a standard socket. They also make their male positive terminal on their socket smaller than standard meaning the plug on the brown positive wire was to small to fit the Narva socket.

Easy fix, use a dremel to grind the original mounting hole bigger.
Mark, cut and grind hole in lining (unfortunately the lining is not a precise fit so I was unable to get flush mount to lining with socket and get the retaining nut on, so had to make lining hole a little larger and mount socket to the handbag only).

Cut plugs off cable to make same length I cut both plugs off. Put new plugs on, both same standard size now.

To get the grommet to mount from the outside I had to cut the wires and rejoin near latch so that I could feed them through, outside to inside. I also had to dremel the hole for the grommet and use lubricant on the grommet to get it in.

Hinges were hardest to do as carpet holes did not line up with bolt holes.

I also have to grind (today, I ran out of time last night) a bit off the base plate for the bags feet as it hits hard against the bottom of the bag and is pulling the liner away from the top of the bag as a result.

I've gone 4 washers under each mounting foot. I hope this will be enough. I used M6, 30mm bolts, I will need longer bolts if I need more washers as I have bolted through the carpet to keep things in place.

Pretty happy with the results though.

Sounds like you got the cure. A little complicated. Indian/Polaris didn't make it easy for anyone to modify.

Will these fit on a 2019 Chief Dark Horse? It seems like almost all of the parts listing out there stop at 2018 (both these bags and other aftermarket parts).

I figured all of this out thanks to this awesome forum.

There are bags specific to our/your bike.

I bought them myself and they look great.
I couldn't see how to take the feet off to add washers so I was worried at first about the feet not sitting on the exhaust, but I'm running Rush War Horse 4 inch slip ons and the right bag sits on them np. The left one I can't get to sit but I think its bc I need the bike to sit upright.
I connected the right bags plug for the electronic lock right up and it unlocks np.
The bags came with the wires all connected inside the bag. I thought I was going to need to cut the plug on the right or I was getting trolled bc the plug seemed like it would not fit through the hole on the bags backside, but I was able to just get it through.
I got a usb plug
and put it into the right bag.
It does NOT fit without some extra work. I use a rubbed mallet and hammered it into place.
I would also recommend test fitting the wiring harness to the usb plug prior to putting it in place.
I had a problem with the red connection and working on it in place is very difficult in comparison.

I screwed up the plug on the left bag and I have to figure out how.
There is no 4 wire plug on the left and I cut mine off and added one of the 2 wire plugs splicing the blue and green wires but the lock isn't working.

I got the switch from cheapcyclesparts using 2019 Sprinfield as my point of reference.
SWITCH-SADDLEBAG LOCK V2
Item: 4017110
$75.64

K-FOB HOUSING, 2BTN
Item: 2207317
[PLASTIC HOUSING ONLY]
$13.79

I have not installed the switch yet(2500 mile service Tuesday and may ask if they can do it) and I plan to take the board out of my current fob and drop it into the 2 button(has not arrived yet).

I love how they look on the bike.
I spent money on Viking bags and actually am using the spools I got then along with the braces from the Viking bags to secure the bags to the bike.
I am not using any quick release hardware.

Steezos, you maybe referencing my earlier post re cutting and rejoining the latch wires.

Unfortunately my grommet hole did not mould properly and had some lagged plastic making the hole too small to pass the plugs through. My left bag was moulded perfectly and plugs passed through easily, only after I had finished my right bag.

Let me know if your fob board works in the 2 button fob housing to unlock the bags

Okay.. So the fob housing works to lock the bags but when you look at the circuit board there is no actuator button for the unlock function. This seems to be the only function that does not work.

Thanks mate.

Does the key unlock the bags after you have locked them with the fob?

Oh! forgot to mention
I was there for 2500 mile service and I had them install the switch. It works great.
I can also lock/unlock them with the key/button.
Maybe one day I'll pay the $120 for the 2 button fob, but I doubt it.

How much for switch and install? Is that US dollars?

$75.64 US cost for the switch
Dealer charged me $40 to install it. I should have done it myself but it was in for service and I like them.
