If you are putting on hard bags and adding a sissy bar, you want the Chieftain spools. They do not come as a set... almost double the price of the regular set of Chief spools.
Thanks mate.
So buy OEM or Osprey but need to be Chieftan because the hard bags do not come with or have the correct spools to mount OEM sissy bar at later stage?

Correct. That is what I was told by an Indian dealer.

Correct. My 2016 had a sissy bar prior. Different spools from Chieftain but when added these bags I contacted Osprey. Make it clear he knows you have a Chief and he will hook you up with spools to fit your sissy bar.

the bolt length i used is 1.25 inches. i am using 9 washers between the bottom of the bag and the foot that rests on the pipes. i also retapped the screw holes in the foot as they needed cleaning up a bit.

hope that helps.
I bought TAB Performance Zombie slip ons for Chieftain so I already have the tabs for the feet of the bags to sit on.
I'm hoping I will not need washers under the bag to lower the feet.

bowling - i have oem mufflers from a chieftan with the tabs for feet also - still had to put longer bolts with washers on. Bags were adjusted to lowest setting on top bolt slot. after i redid my washers in rear this spring i have a nice solid bag. last year rear feet were maybe a 1/4 inch off and bags wobbeld quite a bit.

Oh ok.
Thanks for the heads up.
I'll check all of that with a mock set up first before I hard mount them.

aren't the 2019's the year they switched bag styles? these are mostly the rounded follow your fender type bags, not the sqaureish new ones.
In Australia the bag shape went to the square shape (uglier in my opinion) on the 2020 model. 2020 model also one peice rider/pillion seat and different handlebars

I purchased the extra large Viking bags last year for my dark horse. And didn’t quite like the way they looked on the bike. They sat high, and didn’t flow as nice as the factory bags. So I ordered these TCMT bags, install was a breeze, with help from all you guys on here. Thank you!! But, I found the Viking bags to be a better quality, for about the same price. Minus the electric locks, and bag liners. O, and I didn’t have to get these ones painted.

Did you connect electric locks and put button in tank bib and get a new fob?

No I have not yet. I will pick up what I need when I can get to the city. Just received the Polaris 12v DC plug in mail yesterday, and a piece of the plastic flange was broken.

Ok thanks.

My TMCT bags are due today. Looking unlikely though as it is already midday here.

Could you keep me posted on if and how you do locks?

When my bags arrive can I use one of these? It is a dual 12v usb socket.
Why does everyone put OEM cigarette socket in?

Thanks

I sure can if I get around to it. I’ve just been going by what the other guys have been doing on this site for the 12v socket. Don’t see why any socket wouldn’t work.

This thread alone may have made joining worth it. I had been looking at these bags on Amazon, but the seller was saying they won't fit on a Chief Dark horse. I take it that they do fit, but other parts are also needed. If this is the case, what else is needed to make these work?

Currently I don't have a passenger backrest or luggage rack on my bike, it's straight stock save the extended Rogue seat.
