How tall is your Wife? My reason for asking, I am 5ft 2" tall and thinking of upgrading the Springfield. I sat on one the other day and got my toes down ok but would rather have my feet planted flat on the floor.I put a lowering kit on my wife's 2017 Springfield this winter to help alleviate her vertically challenged issues. I had to disassemble the back end of the bike and remove the battery box to get access to the linkage. I'm quite mechanically inclined and it still took me close to six hours to complete.
She can now sit on the seat and be flat footed. I still need to raise the preload on the rear shock a little to help prevent the tire from bottoming out and destroying the wiring harness. But she knew going in that she would have to sacrifice a little ride quality in exchange for lowering it.
I was worried going in to this that she would have issues when parking and that the angle of the bike might be to upright while on the kickstand, but it isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
im 5-6 but have a 29 inch inseam and just barely sit flat footed on my chieftain classic. And for a 850 lb bike its pushing it just a little. Hard if i'd had to try and control, it if only having tip toe control. Also, i added the reduced reach seat. How tall is your Wife? It really isn't your height. It is your inseam. How tall is your Wife? My reason for asking, I am 5ft 2" tall and thinking of upgrading the Springfield. I sat on one the other day and got my toes down ok but would rather have my feet planted flat on the floor.
A number of us all mentioned inseams in our answers, so that he knew how we sit and our inseam. Even if he lowers the bike and adds the reduced reach seat at 5'2" her inseam will not let her be anything but at best tippy toe and at the bike weight, it can only be a not going to work.It really isn't your height. It is your inseam.
Height becomes a factor when shopping for windshields.![]()
