Floyd, save yourself the aggravation and get it to any motorcycle shop with the tools and knowledge. And think about what you want to do with your blinkers. I've only seen one solution thus far, and that's @WillRide 's which moved the rear blinkers to the handlebars. Mine should be done in a couple of weeks, I am using the x-arcs with homemade brackets.
Aeromach also has a relocation kit for the Scout to move the OEM directional's.
They wont work if you have the saddle bags!
I tried to find them again, but couldn't find them on the webpage.

I installed my bracket to my shock. I saw a few people saying it wouldn't work. Was it a bad idea or wouldn't work? Should I take mine off and put it on the Axel bolt instead?
The shock mount is a pivot point and moves..... the axle bolt doesn't swivel or move in operation.
Stay with the axle bolt mount that is where it was designed to work correctly.
