I wish the Scout resembled a 40's Sport Scout more. I had a ride on back of a local kid's salmon pink (?) SS when I was 14 back in Milwaukee around 1950. That got me hooked for life, still have my '48 Chief at 75.
My Old Chief, I think that Indian didn't want to do something like the Kawasaki Drifter pure nostalgia play (e.g., https://www.flickr.com/photos/leica-torquay/2556114441/) but rather try to introduce a bike that could represent in 2014 what your '48 represented almost 70 years ago -- the right combination of power, handling and a dash of unique style. I believe they have done quite well, but then again, taste is a very personal thing...
