Hey everyone, not sure if any of you watched Dad with a Bike on Youtube (he did a lot of good videos on the Scout and other motorcycles), but I heard that he has sadly passed away. I have attached a link to his GoFundMe for anyone interested.

Unfortunately it's been confirmed, John was doing what he loved to answer your question, the circumstances aren't available in full just yet.

I believe those are his kids?

RIP friend, you were a good man

RIP
I asked from him about different tunings for the Scout(Tier1 and Fuel Moto, dyno) he tried them all...
My condolences to the family.
I'd watched quite a few of his videos for Scout specific information and he always came across as a decent guy, it's a shame to see him go so young.

My own curiosity led me to dig up the news report of his death, which I haven't seen linked yet. The investigation is incomplete, but the line "at a high rate of speed" would imply to me that investigators on the scene think he likely went out while pushing beyond his limits.

There is a link on his obituary page to send flowers to the June 21 service for anyone so inclined.

Kind of ironic that when I go to his YouTube page:

that his featured video is:
titled, "How not to die on a motorcycle | Tips for the Vigilant Rider"

RIP sir...
Terrible news. I was inspired and continue to be inspired by his enthusiasm. Will have him in my heart moving forward. See you on the other side my friend!

I’m surprised that he was driving at “a high rate of speed” after dark. No judgment on him since I don’t speak bad about the deceased. Just surprised as I would not have expected it. Based on the report, it was not a car’s fault which would have been my first inclination. I wonder if it was a death wobble, and I’d like to know which bike was the perp.

This time of year. 8:30 PM is definitely very light. So, it wasn't dark yet. But high-speed runs anything can happen

When I totaled my car they said I was going at a high rate of speed, I was going 55 MPH in the mountain roads (where I live), so I think a high rate of speed is really relative.

Do you every see all the posts here about people wanting more performance and speed, and bitching about the speed limiter. Most single motorcycle accidents fall in two categories, failure to negotiate a turn and loss of control at high speeds.

Young and old fall trap to this.
Stay safe Ladies and Gentleman. I personally wear protective gear including a KLIM Airbag vest, protective jeans, protective jackets, shirts, and shoes. Not looking for any chances. I also recommend them all to my customers. At the very lease an airbag vest to save your spine and neck. Road rash and broken bones suck but they heal. On the other hand a broken head or spine isn't always recoverable. Was riding today and was doing at least 110mph in a safe zone with no cars around me open highway. Testing out after my 500+ breaking in period. This bike is a 85mph and under bike IMO. Sure it can go faster but the fact there is no windshield and your body is acting like a lever pulling that front up she gets a little squishy going faster than say 95mph. Personally I will probably keep the bike under 85mph for the most part and continue to wear specialty gear and push it to all my customers. Stay safe!

Oh no, this is unfortunate news. Dad with a Bike has created fantastic content on YouTube, and it's a loss to the community. In honor of his memory, we should contribute to installing one of those heartfelt grass level headstones with vase for him. It could be a small gesture to show our appreciation for his impact on our community. Let's join together to support his family and preserve his legacy. May he rest in peace, and his videos continue to inspire and entertain us.

From what I could tell they didn’t know exactly what happened. it is sad. I did several things to my bike based off his video.
