OMG! We had become friends when my first round of patches went out. We even met for breakfast once, when he came down to visit a friend down on the west coast of Florida. In recent years we had drifted apart.
If you care for someone, let them know today! Saying to yourself, "I'll tell them tomorrow." I am here to tell you that tomorrow is too late. There is only today!
To my friend, Pat...

Burning Bridges
by
R.S. Eames
aka Chief Signguru

I sit among the rocks and ruins
Of Yesterday's Tomorrows,
The day has come, when I must turn,
And toss away my Sorrows.
I do not know, nor do I care,
What Yesterday has been.
All that I know, is I am here
And I am what I am.

Yesterday is just a broken mirror,
A reflection of what's not.
Today is all I'm living for,
And that is all I've got.
Tomorrow may be better,
But it's such a long, long way.
I live for life that's real to me,
I live my life today.

Burning Bridges crossing time,
It's endless spiral, never ceasing.
Mother Earth caressing life,
Her love for you is often pleasing.
Look for life, search for love,
And then, you'll never question why,
When you find the answers there,
You will feel like you can fly.

I used to sit, and dream, and think
Of other days gone by,
To how my life had gone this way,
And wonder where and why,
But, now I know, the bridge is burned,
There is no turning back.
The change has come, and I am here,
And that is all to that.

Tomorrow's future may be bright,
Although I cannot see,
Today's today is all I've got,
And that's enough for me.
The Yesterday of other times
Can never be relived,
So, live each day as if it was
The last one you could give.

Burning Bridges crossing time,
It's endless spiral, never ceasing.
Mother Earth caressing life,
Her love for you is often pleasing.
Look for life, search for love,
And then, you'll never question why,
When you find the answers there,
You will feel like you can fly.

You will be deeply missed by many!

I have no doubt that many do every day. I only mentioned him because he was a member of this forum.
I understand, I thought the gentleman I am speaking of was also a member, but I maybe mistaken. May they both rest in peace.

I will miss Pat. We met (two years ago) one day at the Indian dealership in Annapolis, MD. He was cross-country traveling and stopped for bike service. Since then we remained in touch - both on and off the forums - and were kindred combat veterans. I sent him a couple of IMRG gift items I did not want (belt buckle, etc.). He was quite appreciative.

I had no idea, and he never mentioned, he was gravely ill. Such is the character of a true warrior and veteran hero. I will miss you brother! RIP.
