Here’s a couple closer shots. You can see on the bars where the control clamp was originally, and when shifted inboard the lever hits the grip just ever so slightly before the switchgear. Has worked great for me.

Do they hit the controls when you pull them back? They look like they would. Or maybe it's just the angle

No
the brake lever doesn't pull back that far
The Clutch lever misses as per pic

Correct. That’s why they are adjustable..

If you want them closer to the bars turn the lever to adjust them
