longitudinal slits with some small cracks in the rubber as well. couple of places on the front tire (did not check back yet) on both sides of midline. Original Kenda's - about 3K miles
My guess is you were slightly turn and/ or accelerating a little on a metal flat edge type grate that was on a road surface, possibly over a drain in a parking lot or street. ( guessing). I wouldn’t be concerned if it were my tire.
I agree that it was probably something rolled over on the road. Tires usually crack non-uniformly, more like the lower left corner of the lines in that picture. And that might be a later result after the damage.
I can't imagine how this would occur during the injection mold process, being one small place and so uniform in appearance.
Not that I would actually know anything about tire making other than the obvious!
