Happy New year to all
Here it goes. I recently bought a used 2015 Chieftain with 8,000 miles from a honda dealer with essentially all the goody add ons done by the original owner's Indian dealership. Including a stage 2 with stage 1 air intake and pipes. Before I bought it I had them run a recall check. Only thing needed was recall I-19-03 to replace the gear position switch because of oxidation and to reflash computer. It causes the wrong gear to be displayed. Could display Neutral when in fact it is in gear.
I rode it to the Indian dealer 2 hours away since Honda could not do the recall. They supposedly replaced the switch and flashed it. Afterwards, I got on to ride it back home and I noticed the check engine light come on. It rendered the rear oxygen sensor heating ckt. The mechanic cleared the code and the computer threw it back in. I asked them to go ahead and replace it. The service department called their parts department and were told they had 2. The mechanic had started on it when the parts people called to say they did not actually have any
. That it would take at least two weeks.
My questions are,
are there compatible oxygen sensors that are used by other brands such as harley? There's a harley dealer 20 minutes away and I can tackle the replacement.
Also, would they have had to specified stage 2 when they flashed the bike after the recall work?
I did ride it back the 2 hours with the check engine light on and I did not notice anything wrong with it.
