An Australian guy built one in consultation with a university engineering department some years ago. Here's his book.

Is That Thing Diesel?: Paul Carter: 9781743138397: Amazon.com: Books

It's a good story but a poor way to ride Australian roads. It was slow and heavy and vibrated the bike and itself to pieces a few times. The motor was a converted pump motor and I suspect these days there are better options.

Apart from the one Kawasaki builds for the military I'm sure I've read about European/Russian diesel engined bikes for cold weather and remote country use.

There's a guy around Rapid City that rides a Royal Enfield single converted to a diesel. It might make 10-12 hp, is as slow as molasses, but works pretty good otherwise.

Personally, it might be fun to have a bike with a jake brake.

Doesn't even have to have advanced sport bike technologies
On that topic, the bike we built above doesn't even NEED electricity to run or start. It has a pull starter that works and simple mechanical injection. The charging system is just for the lights. (And electric starter because lazy) :p HAHAHAHA

I thought about building a diesel motorcycle a few years ago. I was thinking of mounting a Yanmar three cylinder diesel engine longitudinally in a stretched frame and connecting it to either a BMW boxer or GW transmission. Kind of a mini Indian Sport 4. I guess it would have been Sport 3.

It probably would have been slower than sin, but I thought that it would get 80 to 100 mpg.
