Hi,
I recently bought a 2022 chief 116 dark horse from an salvage auction. It had been in a low slide accident on the right into mud which caused the brake lever, exhaust and handle bar to bend. Apart from that there is no damage on the bike. It did not come with a key or manual, but from my understanding, if I push the kill switch up and then press the power button, it should turn on for a few seconds.
I have been looking at getting a cruiser for some time and this popped up and I’m glad it did, looks amazing!
The problem, this bike is not showing any signs of life (electrical life I mean). I have charged the battery, tested the battery, checked the fuses under the seat, checked the three main 40a fuses next to the ABS block with a continuity tester, all perfect.
I even opened the right-hand control buttons to check the cables were still connected (only a white plug was not, but it did fit in the only available hole there.) I checked the 4" display, all connected. I checked the ECU next to the battery, opened the connector and closed them again, nothing. (Although one of the main ECU connectors has a broken clip joining the two sides together, but it doesn’t affect the connection itself.)
I'm not sure what else to check. The oil is very low, so low it’s not even registering on the dip stick. If I touch the two bolts on top of the solenoid together, the engine turns over quickly….
What else should I do apart from visiting the dealer…
Thank you in advance for reading this and trying to help, I know it’s a little long 😊
