Newbie w q’s re Scout front forks, rear suspension, brake and clutch lever

INTRO THREAD:

I just purchased a 2016 Scout non abs, it has 2900 miles. Very nice bike for the price.
First thing I noticed was the brake and clutch lever. They’re aftermarket and the kuryakyn brand. Both have a lot of free play up and down. All bolts are tight. I saw a post where someone put a bushel or washer between the mount and the lever. I don’t have enough room for that. They jiggle up and down about 1/2”.
Second thing I noticed was the front fork compression. I’ve only had bigger bikes so I’m not sure what this bikes travel is supposed to be when I push down on them. While holding the front brake and putting all my weight on the bike it travels almost 3/4 the way down. Is this normal? I have no noticeable fork leaks or faulty seals. I have not checked fork oil because I’m not sure how. Any suggestions or is this how they’re made? I’m 230lbs and have yet to adjust the rear suspension. The bike feels like it bottoms out when I hit the lip of the driveway. I need to adjust rear for my weight.
Any inputs appreciated, thanks

Welcome from Ohio!
That’s a lot of play in your levers. They are too thin for the space in your bracket, si if you don’t want to replace them, shimming the gap is the only solution. There are shim washers of varying thicknesses available from Grainger, I believe, and your bolt is most likely an M6, but check it to be sure. You might have to buy a 100 count, from them. Get a set of feeler gauges, and see what the gap measures. Then, you will know what washer thickness you need. Or, buy a new set of adjustable levers, and have fun customizing your new bike!! 😂

Thank you Charlie. I’ll probably just get new levers. Do you suggest any brand? Or should I just try to find the stock ones?
Well, search the forum here, I still have my stock levers, but there are members who have added adjustable levers to their Scout. I am sure there will be some of them who read your post, and give you a few suggestions.

Just found these with a search. LSL Ergonia, and Synto Evo #KH67-15 for clutch, and BH45-15/15K for brake.
