The lower octane will not hurt it for short term use. The knock sensor will activate. Just don't push the throttle. But with all due respect, That 104 crap is......well crap. It states it will raise the octane level by 2-3 points. Those points are actually .2 to .4 octane points, only tenths, that what points are, not whole numbers. There may be other additives that can suffice, but READ the label and be a sceptic.

I have a 2015 Scout that is supposed to use a min. of 91 octane fuel.
I have never put anything but 87 octane in it since I bought it.
I haven't had a seconds worth of problems with the bike,
Wow, now that is interesting! Anyway, thanks to all. I figured what I would do is to fill up just enough to get me back to civilization then top it off as quick as possible with the good stuff as suggested. Nice to know there shouldn't be any long term damaging effects.

I am not recommending that particular brand, just meant to put some octane booster in the saddlebag if there is that much concern. Sorry to mislead. I am more concerned with ethanol than the exact octane.

An excerpt from this article states:

"automotive website Edmunds.com has done research on the topic. Its take: If your owner’s manual says premium gas is “recommended,” using regular should be fine. However, if it says premium fuel is “required,” stick with that guidance. Steady use of regular gas could eventually damage such engines."

The RM owner's manual addresses fuel as a recommendation, not requirement. I still plan to run higher octane fuel when available, but won't get too excited if I find myself in a situation where I am forced to go with a lower octane level as long as it isn't E-85 gasoline.

It makes a difference if you have real fuel versus moonshine too. I think if all I could get was fuel with ethanol then I'd opt for the higher octane. That maybe invalid but it's my opinion. I do try hard to find real fuel. Going so far as planning a route around finding it. Sometimes it works and sometimes a station is now running moonshine but I try.

Straight Gas is always my first choice in the highest octane I can find. Even the lowest ethanol free octane gas is better than the highest ethanol gas. The higher the octane the cleaner and cooler it burns. If I could afford 115/145 AVGAS/Racing Gas I would run it, but it is cost prohibitive for me. IMO, Octane boosters are a waste of money. They dont improve or raise the octane enough to justify the cost.
