Let's discuss the 3 piece patch again, shall we?

I know it's TV but still love this scene. The "you guys watch some bullshit TV show and think a vest and two wheels makes you a club" is why I thought of it for this thread.

However the "sorry he was just picking up on the lack of cognative engery coming our way" makes me laugh everytime.

A 1%'r club makes no pretense regarding being outlaws willing to break the law so the fact that they can't legally stop someone and take their property is a moot. They literally don't care.

I personally do not ascribe to that lifestyle. However, I always compare it to how a Veteran feels about Ol' Glory. The Supreme Court has deemed burning and defacing the Flag is legal. Anyone who trys to stop someone from doing so would be a criminal. But I've seen Veterans do exactly that. Personally I've never ben in that situtation but I feel that I would as well. The reason Veterans feel that way is becuase of what they've done for the Flag. Some would say they hold the Flag as scared.

A lot of 1%'r are just as passionate about defending their patch and lifestyle as the most ardent Veteran.

Ignorance could also be said for people who buy full track gear and go full chicken strip on their Panigale. But MotoGP riders generally don’t represent criminal or crime-tolerant organizations.

Serious question . . . why not ride with vest, with or without patches, if that is what you want to do?

The fact that you choose not to is beautiful. Your jacket/Your choice.

I choose to wear a vest and to to put patches on it. My vest/My choice, too.

Neither choice is better, or worse, than the other.

What I don't understand is why soooooo many people here think that my choice to wear a vest means that I'm trying to pretend that I'm a 1%er. That makes no more sense than saying that if I wear a red bandana, which I sometimes doe, I'm trying to pretend that I'm a Blood. I also have a blue one, a grey one, a white one, and a black one.

I haven't seen anyone attack someone simply for wearing a vest. Most posts were about those who choose to copy the format of the three piece patch with a claim to a territory as the bottom rocker. That is asking for trouble. Is it juvenile? Kinda. But to 1%r's it isn't.

The three piece format is typically used by MCs. The 1%rs also add the 1% diamond and have the state as their territory. For example, take the war between the Mongals and the Hells Angels. When they first started, the Mongols didn't have "California" as the bottom rocker. I think they had "So Cal" but I can't remember for sure. However, once they started flying the "California" patch the Angels took exception and they've been at war ever since. Again, to you and me, we're like "really?". But to those in that culture they're like "ABSOLUTELY!!!".

Here's the bottom line. When you fly a territory as a bottom rocker of your three piece patch you are saying to the MC world that you own whatever territory that is. For the OP, that was "VETERAN" so no one in the MC world will care. However, if you fly a state as a bottom rocker you're saying that you own that state. Others in the MC world will probably have an exception with that claim. Not only that, they will probably end up having a conversation with you about it. Your choice if that is something that you want to risk for the reward of wearing a state as a bottom rocker.

If you think 1%ers protecting their turf is extreme, you've never seen Girl Scouts trying to sell cookies in another troop's neighborhood. They're out there slinging their pre-portioned addictive poison, counting cash, and putting down anyone that gets in their way.

Yes, they wear vests. Yes, they have patches on those vests. Even the Dark Helmets won't mess w/ the G.S.

It even makes it into sitcom episodes

Probably late to the thread. Friend of mine is a police officer on a MC task force. He said definitely do not put 1% patches of any kind on your vest, unless you are. My son-in-law had a three patch for a Christian riding group and got questioned about it.
I was active in CMA but the Chapter is now defunct here in SOMD. However, CMA chose to were a one piece patch for that very reason. Biggest concern was to not offend which would hurt our ability to minister to the very group we're trying to reach. Another thing is that there was a training requirement for the patch as well; it wasn't just handed to you for money. Nothing like the probabtionary period for being a full patch in an MC, but it was viewed positively.

This isn’t towards the OP but it’s towards everyone else that keeps commenting on this talking about how they’ll wear ‘any patches I want to’.

Do whatever you want to. Ever since the advent of the internet, you guys know why you shouldn’t mimic a 3 piece patch on your back and the problems that could come from it if you’ve offended a club. Yet here we are again with everyone trying to convince themselves they can do what they want. Why post about how you’re going to do what you want? Who are you convincing?

Even more ridiculous are the people constantly bringing up crime and motorcycle clubs. MCs aren’t built on crime. MCs are built on brotherhood. I can’t control what my brother does in their personal time, but I will always support them as a brother. If you’re so worried about cops etc. why the hell are you so mystified with the patch layout of a 1%er? Why not do something else? You can make a vest look like anything you want but you choose to wear one that looks like a traditional MC, and then in the same breath talk shit on MCs and their history? Keep your words on the internet. People have died for the right to wear their rags in certain places - don’t come to a club talking this bullshit about how you’re all criminals, you don’t see cop clubs acting like this etc.
Funny (to me) story. I was manning the CMA tent at a local bike blessing. It was well attended by the LEOs due to some club disagreements a few years before. The LEOs set up in the fire house parking lot down the street. A "biker" came up to me and asked me if he looks like a criminal. I asked him why and he told me that he went to park in the fire house parking lot and the LEOs told him to move along and I guess they weren't too friendly about it. He kept saying "why do they treat me like a criminal". And he was being a bit loud when asking.

So I told him that the LEOs look at all of us as criminals and that there are some 1%rs in attendence and named off a few starting with Phantoms, Derelicts, Iron Order, Hells Angels... as soon as I mentioned Hells Angels he said "HELLS ANGELS!!! ARE THEY CRIMINALS!!" I said, we the LEOs feel they are. And he repeated "ARE THEY CRIMINALS!" I was just trying to get him to bring his voice down a few db.

Finally he asked about the bike blessing which was still over an hour away so I ofterred to bless his bike for him. We walked over to his bike which was a brand new entry level cruiser but I can't remember exactly. As soon as I was done I mentioned that he could stick around for the main blessing and there was a lot of good food. He said thank you. I wasn't even back to the tent before I heard him riding away.

I figured it was for the best :ROFLMAO:

Totally agree with you. Ah! the beauty of a Liberal government.
Mind you, with our archaic planes, I remember long time ago when we still flew the F104. During a Red Flag exercise over the desert, you guys were looking for our planes until it was too late, we were on your tails for the kill. This went on until one of your pilot detected a dust trail on the ground. He went down to investigation and that was then that he discover one of are old F104 skimming the ground flying undetected because you guys had you eyes in the cloud.
On another note, we are the only Air Force in the world to have put more than 11G on an F18 and having the pilot land it. We put so much stress on those plane the Douglass are using us as flying test bed.
Yah but that was our Air Farce. Come on over to Top Gun next time ;)

Yah but are little furry animal with long ears. If your Air Force is so good yet be tricked during such an easy exercise, I wonder what would happened if the Canucks were involved in Top Gun?

This is the things we should discuss over a couple of cold ones my brother. ;)
I was talking about the Aviators with Wings of Gold vice lead, a.k.a. Naval Aviators though 😁

Discussions over a cold one is just what the Dr. ordered.
