Funny question, Zack, but I'm a stickler for details, too. You said you purchased a new 2023 Chieftain, but it's 2025. Has the bike been sitting around for 2 years in a showroom somewhere?

If you're saying you purchased it new in 2023, then the dealer should have gone over everything with you, including that it only comes with one Fob and that you should program a PIN as a backup.

Can't wait to see a pic in the New Member section!
It was a new, fully warrantied Indian from a dealer in New York. It only had 23 miles and never titled.

The more I think about it. I got two keys and one fob. The one key that stays inside the fob. And the second key ( thag would go into another fob) it had the key code on a keychain with it, it was in the bag with the owners manual and little tool kit.

I also just got one fob with 2 keys. I lost the fob as I forgot it was clipped to my belt loop while I was riding and it wiggled itself loose. Wish I had a second fob for sure, but it was my own fault I am stuck using my code. With car's it is exactly as JayRed1 on the reason why. Most people don't share their bike- most car drivers do. Someone's partner or kids usually drives it when it's available whereas I only have 1 person I would consider letting ride my bike and they live in England and won't be by. Car drivers tend to keep their fobs in their purse or work bag and just start the car wirelessly. If someone walks out of the house with that key in their bag everyone else is stranded. We're comparing apples to flippin sirloin steaks in terms of how the markets work. It's got nothing to do with being cheap, it's just for every person who thinks it's a scam they are not getting 2 fobs there are 10 who have absolutely no need to do it.

Berserker you are opinionated though. Must be the life of the party if you aren't around people who don't agree with you on everything.

I can only imagine the discounts that came with that. Must have been a hell of a deal!

A couple weeks ago,I went out to my garage to fire the bike up and head out for a little ride. But, when I hit the starter button, NOTHING happened. WTF??? So, after farting around with it for a half hour or so looking for the problem, dawn "FINALLY" broke on marble head. I had forgotten the FOB in the house. So I went back into the house, grabbed it,went back out to my garage and she fired right up. What a putz!!:rolleyes: DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you are not responsible enough to own a bike.

This is bs answer. Making excuses for cheapening out and screwing customers. Only one person driving car at a time

Snowmobile, ATV, side by side, lawn mower, autos come with 2 keys

Your wife carry a lawn mower key around with her cause she mows too?

This is like making the excuse your wife isn't so bad when on her meds

It's about having a backup. In case it ever gets lost.

If you need a back up , is their a number on the key that can be used or do you have to bring bike in to get it mated?

With Harley you order a trunk, tell them the number and it will arrive matching your key. Lose your key, order a new one with that number
Maybe you should go on some meds.

It happens to the best of us from time to time, unless of course you happen to be @Berserker. He never does anything wrong. 🙄

You say some pretty stupid shit most the time.

No need for a 2nd fob if you have you your PIN...you know being a responsible adult and all. Stop thinking you're so much smarter than the world. You clearly aren't otherwise you wouldn't be sitting on this forum talking like you are.

But I guess it's easier to blame someone else for your own incompetency.

EDIT You're also full of shit on getting 2 keys for snowmobiles, side by sides, and ATV. Look around on any of those forums, owners talk about only getting 1 key as well.
How is am I responsible wanting a back up? I like a back up for my back up. I just bought lawn mower, 2 keys. 2019 sxs 2 keys only thing I have bought in my life with one key is this Indian. Harley is now one key top. I don't know when they went to it

All my sleds, sxs, and ATVs are two keys. I can't say if they cheaper out.

I like to be prepared.

Using the pin would be a pain. But I did change it before I left the dealer.

I don't understand why you are against having a second key, which has been the norm for decades.

It's ok to say, "they cheaped out on us"

Newest thing I have is lawn mower two keys, 2024. Sxs 2019 2 and sled 2015 2. If they cheaper out then I will speak out against them also

I am not sure why you are happy to get less. Why you feel you cannot say something.

It was the practice my whole life to get 2 keys for everything

My model it comes up on screen asking for pin if I do not have the key. Yours does not?

I usually forget my key on the bike

you get two keys. One fob. They didn’t cheap out on you. You bought your bike used. You didn’t get everything.

To me that are intertwined.

Every machine should come with two keys and fobs, regardless of who makes it

I feel a little childish here having to stipulate two keys and two fobs. I think we all know that the words are synonymous

How do you get another fob and key?

Is there a number on fob and key? Are they Matching? Do you have to bring bike in or can you order?

PIA my sled you have to bring machine in to mate. Harley puts number on key and you can buy scanners for keys

Yes. You get a little key card number on your second key. You give that number. They get you a new key.

Your previous owner clearly didn’t give you yours.

two fobs aren’t needed. Unless you’re sharing a bike with someone else. But I’m sure you will argue that too.

I don't share my truck, snowmobile, ATV, sxs or lawn mower and I want two keys, and have them

It is all about being prepared . I just don't know why men are anti being prepared. Sad reflection of the times. Go ask your father if he thinks you should have two fobs/keys

Entering a pin in pia.

But again how do you get another fob?

Is the number for the key inscribed on key? That is how Harley does it. I don't have my bike with me.

I am more concerned about fob than key. But they do live together

10 years ago bikes came with 2 fobs. So I think that calls BS to you don't need 2 cause you don't share your bike story

I purchased a new 2023 Chieftan Limited, and my question is: How many fobs come with a new Indian? I received 1 fob and no keys, and I'm not happy about that. Can anyone say for sure how many fob(s) come with a new 2023 bike?
Thanks, Zack
Why don’t you read your manual? The key is inside the fob.

The PIN is your backup. So again, you're given yet another solution to your problem but still want to b!tch and blame the manufacturer because you can't comprehend simple solutions.

Because I don't feel like I got ripped off because I didn't get an extra key that I don't need. Especially since the key is only good for locking your bags or steering. Because since I'm the only one that rides my bike, I don't need an extra fob either. And if I have ever lost it, which I have, I know my PIN because that is the backup that Indian provides.

Thank you for proving my point. Other people think you should get 2 key/fobs. But you want to argue it is wrong for Indian. You are just blindly loyal

As I wrote I changed my pin before I left dealer. But using pin is not a good day to day solution. It is not convenient. I understand you are so blindly loyal you can not admit that

So how did you get another fob after you lost yours?

And don't you feel dumb arguing you should not have a second fob, when you admit you lost yours?

Up until few years ago, every motor vehicle came with 2.

My snowblower has 2

I can't fathom why we are arguing this, other than you want to argue and you have blind loyalty. Like the old time Harley riders you loathe. This last part makes me laugh.

After you lost your fob,how did you get a new one???????

I don't believe you rode using pin forever more. Unless you are one of those guys who says he never masturbated. Which is what you are doing here
