Just bought 2021 Chieftain Dark Horse. What are you favorite "must-have" accessories that I should get right away?

Speaking with respect to the '16 CDH and '17 RM, -- If I drove out with a new bike today, this is the list I would start by the time I got home.

1. A PV3 fuel controller and tune from Fuelmoto.
2. Gut the cat. New slip-ons are optional.
3. Plenty of gas. Just go.

Handle bars, windshield, crotch coolers, fringe, and lighting all come along at your pace.

If I was your salesman I would ask what type of riding you normally do? Do you do day rides and come home to your own bed or long excursions? Do you ride 2-Up mostly, occasionally, or never? Are you a performance junkie that wants to squeeze ever HP & TQ number you can?

Based on your answers you'll find the answers to you most pertinent upgrades.

I have a Roadmaster and ride with a sissybar/luggage rack rather than the trunk. It has been at least 18 months since the trunk was on. Wife gave me a Kuryakyn Road Warrior soft luggage for Christmas a year ago. Love it.

BTW, newbies have to post pics of new bikes, 1st rides, happy wife/GF on back. Or better, on her bike.
Welcome to the tribe.

Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the forum!

Out the door, I went with:
Stage 1 Oval slip-ons — mainly for a little more sound
Rear Highway Bars
Garage Door Opener
Rider Backrest and Mount

Few weeks later, added:
12” Freedom Shield
Motherwell Quick Release Luggage Rack (I ride 1-up)
Toe Rests
Powerband Upgrade for the Fairing - Careful with these. Indian lists them as $500
but dealers computer may charge you $650

Little Things:
License Plate Frame for detail
Highway bar bag for a place to put my Shamrock Shake
Dealer had a loosie Saddlebag liner. “How Much?” “$50?” “Sold!” One saddlebag
for my junk that stays on the bike, one with liner to bring into the hotel.
