You probably know IMRG is helping out with 12 events this year. The first one is the Inaugural Southeast Iron Butt Tour benefiting Operation Homefront, a charity supporting our military families in need.

This is a true regional event as it occurs in three states and rides through four. Current confirmed locations are Knoxville, TN (lead location), Marietta/Atlanta, GA and Charleston, SC. Savannah is in the talks and will finalize this week if they are participating.

The event has two parts: From all locations groups will leave Friday, May 1st at 4:00 AM on an IBA Saddlesore 1000 ride. All groups will follow the same track, circling back to the starting location. Completing riders will get IBA Certification, IBA bling, IBA listing on their website, acknowledgement on the event web site, and 100 free raffle tickets.

The second part is on May 2nd (Saturday) and is a celebration party open to the public! Food. Drink. Silent Auctions. Raffles. 50/50. Music. The parties will be at the locations of the ride starts/finishes.

While this is sponsored and led by IMRGs, the ride is open to all bikes and riders. It's about the charity. Proceeds from all locations will go to the Operation Homefront support for those communities. If you have a company or know of one that would like to donate items for raffle or silent auction, please have them contact me at [email protected].

Details and registration are at www.southeastironbutt.com. I'd love to see a lot of Indians there riding with mine!

The estimate is about 20 hours, +/- 1 hour with good traffic and weather. Another variable is the size of the group for refueling at stops. Personally, I think if the weather cooperates the 20 hour perspective is pretty good. There are a dozen stops, mostly to make sure smaller bikes like Scouts or Sportsters can do it. Any bike is welcome. The ride is organized and supported by National IMRG and the IMRGs of Knoxville, Marietta and Charleston. The best part is that proceeds will benefit Operation Homefront.

With rain, we will ride. With severe weather, we postpone the ride a week, but we'll still have the party on Saturday. If you have any questions, please ask. I've organized and led six Saddlesore 1000 rides, three of them for charity. It's not nearly as hard as it sounds and this is the baby of all IBA rides. It's a good place to start and hone your distance skills.

Count me in. This sounds like a great ride for a wonderful cause. I'm so glad the IMRG seems like it's getting more focused on worthwhile events and relationship building.
I have bad news and I have good news. The COVID-19 stuff really killed our date. Good news is we rescheduled for August 21-22. You can go to www.southeastironbutt.com to register. We're getting some cool riders from a lot of different states. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the ride!

An update for everyone following this thread. The pandemic thing killed us and a lot of other rides... BUT we were lucky enough to be able to simply reschedule. Our ride will be on August 21st leaving from three cities: Knoxville, TN - Marietta, GA - Charleston, SC. The parties, open to the public, are on the 22nd. Proceeds benefit Operation Homefront, supporting our military families in times of need. Details are found at www.southeastironbutt.com.

This is all good news for me. I had a work conflict with the original date anyway. Now that it's moved to August I can go, check another item off my bucket list, and support our military families. Win, win, win...
I'm registered and leaving from Indian of Marietta.
