I purchased non Chieftain V&H turn down slipons off eBay for just over $200. I purchased some sheet metal and used the oem slipon mounts as a jig to bend the sheet metal. I reinforced the brackets with a square piece of metal (keyway material). I mounted the brackets to the new slipons with stainless steel pop rivets. I have put 2500 miles on the bike. Mod works just like oem and I saved a chunk of change.

I also drilled my saddlebags and added running lights but that’s another mod story.

Clever! I have done something similar before by cutting the perches off of another set of stock mufflers... but your solution does not require a stack of spare parts to pick from and no welding! Well done!
