We are in the works of making a 2-UP Luggage Rack for Indian Chieftains (also fits Challengers, Springfields, and Roadmasters).

We want to know how you all want it to be mounted to the bike.

We could mount it just like our current solo rack, just make it taller to go over any 2up seats.

We could also mount it in that same way, but have the rack basically sit behind the 2up seat (Photo is of a different bike/brand, but same concept.)

Do you want it mounted to the spools or behind the spools? Ring Clamp? Let us know your thoughts! We need your help!

I vote for quick detach rack mounted behind the passenger seat so that you can mount a trunk on it if you want to

I also vote for the behind the rack option as well. I have the quick detach solo rack in my scout and strapped a Kuryakyn Gran Tour bag on it for my last trip — and because of the bags width, the saddlebags were not as accessible as if like them to be. It still worked fine though as the bags are leather and lids are super flexible.

Now, I’m very seriously considering the MWL-630-Flat for my chieftain classic, but am concerned that if I put a wide tail bag on it, that will impede the hard saddlebags from opening. Do I have a cause for concern or is the rack high enough to avoid this issue?

I believe there's about 4 inches of clearance between the saddle bags and the top of the rack, so it depends on how wide your saddlebag lids are. The rack sits about 1-2 inches up off the fender.

I wish I could have a clearer answer for you, are you looking at using that bag you mentioned? I could look at the measurements and throw a sample one we have on a Chieftain Fender here and do some measuring.

Thank you for the detailed response. No need to look up that bag as it matches the black leather on my Scout — I will be looking for something new that coordinates with the tan leather on my Chieftain. Perhaps a boss or Osprey trunk, or maybe even a Duluth Pack Duffle. If I go with a Duffle, I may be able to flex the duffle to open my hard bags unimpeded, whereas in the scout I flexed the soft saddlebags to accommodate a rigid trunk.
Thanks Again,
Steve
