I have a 2014 chieftain that I bought new 2015 Feb but wasn't able to ride until late March due to having two broken legs from a previous motorcycle accident. I have 30,700 miles as of today.
Wow! I really admire you guys that can get right back on the horse! I took a spill last year going under 20mph on a curve (damn construction crew put a protective, slippery film on new center line spray). I wasn't even hurt and nothing happened to the bike but it took me literally months to where I was cornering again without hesitation.

Old Threads can still be relevant so here is a pic of my odometer taken October,2018 .
That is incredible! Just the other day, my friend saw I had 32,000+ miles on my bike and said it was time to trade it in. For a second, I actually thought about it because of the mileage but after seeing your post....no way! I love my '14 Chieftain and now, I plan on keep Tayanita for many years :D

5 years old now on July 2nd, 2019. Just had front forks rebuilt at 270,000 miles and also new seals in oil cooler lines. Runs fine!
That is awesome! I have a '14 Chieftain with ~36k miles and people are telling me it's time to trade it in even though the bike runs like a champ. I'm showing them your post to shut them up and to validate my thoughts that my bike is barely broken in!

Thanks for the post and hope you have many more years to ride it!

Just a quick update on my bike, the rear header pipe is leaking a little and turning the chrome a bluish tinge by the head. The inner fork tubes were replaced to ensure the seals to not leak anymore. A little more lifter noise and some mild clacking which is normal for 288,835 miles. Still the original drive belt and rear brake pads. I’m hoping for a mild fall and no snow till December. Motor is still strong and bike is very dependable as it has always gotten me back home!
And here I bought a spare belt because I thought it would need changing at 40K! The dealer said it still looked like new. Same rear pads? How is that possible!

Awesome post (again). I don't think I'll ever get rid of mine now after knowing how long they can run!

This bike just don’t know when to quit,,,,,,,,, and neither does its owner !! 40 years ago I never even dreamed an air cooled motorcycle could reach this kind of mileage without multiple mechanical repairs. I’m thankful to have experienced this in my lifetime. Ride safe and enjoy life everyone ! Larry Swenson View attachment 640741
Wholly shite! Any chance you're going to Indian Bike Week? I'd like to have you "bless" my '14 Chieftain!!!
