My deal is that I don't like windshields on my motorcycles, and I absolutely hate bugs splatting into my face, hate, hate, hate bug splat.

Therefore, I wear a modular full-face. I've been wearing full-face helmets since my Bell Star 90 days in the early 70's.

I do, however, also own a very cool Bell 500 'Grand National' open-face with a chrome bubble-shield that I will very occasionally wear, but I'd really prefer to not have a crash while wearing it, It's small and thinly padded.

I hear you. I too use a modular. I'd take the ugliest full helmet over the prettiest windshield All day long, I seldom see my self with a helmet on and don't care what the ones the can see me think of hoe it's looks, but I stare, at my bike, and I do care how it looks.. lol
And the stuff that hits you in face, is a pointless annoyance, that doesn't need to be had..then add more protection and less fatigue... I can't see what the harm is...

all. The tri state has no helmet laws and I lived there 9 years. Ky Ohio and indianna. Dang!
Kentucky used to have a helmet law which they did away with. Fatalities have been creeping up ever since. Related to helmets? In all honesty I don't know. Could just be more of us on the road now.

I used to wear a bubble…but that was when I thought a $50 helmet was good protection.

Sorry for the confusion, was not me.

You know what they say.........:D.......Stupid is as Stupid does..............
"Stupid Hurts" you started this thread with someone else's picture. Get out and ride dude. Get your own pictures. I could borrow a picture of a biker being hit by lightning and hope nobody rides in the rain! A deer collision and nobody should ride without a rifle. I could also probably find a full face helmet picture or news feed of a full face helmet that killed a rider. But I won't! What I would like to see is 2 guys on Indians riding side by side one wearing a full face and the other a beanie! And listen to their conversation, Of course the beanie guy would lead or I'm going home (lol) Here's part of their conversation; the beanie rider asks the full face rider,How's work going lately? The full face rider says; ]*|€€~€}€~!~ ejejdb ~£}£~!€%! The beanie guy says ok follow me!

I beg to differ; every other car is on their phone texting, some fixing their make up a few good friends of mine are shooting up and then there is the eat drivers with 2 hands. Car drivers need their "Back seat drivers back" and all good! Thanks for the update on Ky but it's in all States. For the most part us MC riders are innocent. Just be safe out there people! And do them walk arounds! Brake tires and lights-takes one minute 11 seconds.

My European Motorcycle dealership started selling full coverage Simpson Racing Helmets back in the early 70's. Simpson didn't like it because we were a motorcycle shop and not an elite car racing shop.............Because we sold more of their helmets than any other outlet we continued with them begrudgingly on their part ;). I have worn full coverage helmets since then, prior to that Bell 3/4 helmets....I think they were.

What do you do ?
well, Im a maintenance Engineer as well as a driver, but since thats not enough to pay child support, I pick up extra cash by giving "older neglected Women" a chance to relive their young adult hood.

I saw a guy do his best imitation of flying back in late September. A dune buggy pulled out in front of him and he had ZERO time to react as he t-boned it. Impacted the pavement. Being first on the scene it is my OPINION that without the helmet he would have not spent just a night at the hospital. No pictures out of respect to the rider and his 100 year old Harley (yeah). This is not rocket science anymore folks. Helmets save lives!. Don't want to wear one? Don't. No excuses required either way. Just do me a favor and enjoy YOUR ride…in the long run isn't that what it's all about? Take the photo as it was meant: a reminder that even on our best days we are not fully in control of all the factors that can cause us harm out there.

REMINDER: Do NOT remove a rider's helmet after she/he has gone down. After a serious wreck with impact to the head it generally takes TWO trained individuals to properly remove a motorcycle helmet. Safest thing to do is let the folks at the Trauma center deal with it. Also, do NOT give water or food to a downed rider until it has been determined that they are free of injuries that might require surgery (head injuries, fractures, internal bleeding, etc). Do insulate them from hot pavement/asphalt and the elements, protect them from traffic, notify EMS and notify their family if you can. Do not move them unless their lives depend on it and EMS won't arrive in time.

Half helmets don't allow airflow over the scalp, while full helmets tend to have very good airflow. I wear a Shoei Modular (Neotec) and find it very comfortable no matter the temperature. It provides a wide angle of view, a built in drop down shaded visor so I don't have to wear sunglasses, and good hearing protection (but I still wear ear plugs). Only the sides of my face get warm, but that's easily resolved by lifting the front up for a minute or two. Plus, I don't have to worry about sunburn!

Put me down as a fan of the Neotec. They size 'em small IMHO so I end up wearing a large. Still my favorite.

Well,I do wear a half DOT helmet ,but not to look cool, but to feel the outside. Your right to wear a full helment, but not your right to tell others what to wear. Glad your ok.
Just saying
People can "tell you" anything - you however, are completely free to ignore them.;)

What is your chosen half helmet if you don't mind my asking?
