I don't have any personal experience (typically ride with an HJC 3/4 or modular helmet) but the LS2 Advent sure does seem to have a lot going for it

Look at an LS2 modular. I’m on my second LS2 (the Advant X) and they’re the best helmets I’ve owned. It’s different from most modulars because the chin guard will flip all the way around to the back, creating a 3/4 helmet.
I love LS2 helmets. I have an LS2 Rebellion 1/2 helmet - actually this is my second one. Been looking at Advant X to use in colder temps but I can't seem to find any place around me that has more than an XS in stock. I want to try one before I buy. One of the reasons I wear a 1/2 helmet is b/c I can't find any full face that fit my melon properly.

I found the LS2 Modulars run small. I usually wear a medium, but in LS2 I need a large. A buddy has one and he had to bump up one size too. The first LS2 I bought off Amazon - so if it didn’t fit, free returns.

Hey all, I'm new to the site and just bought my first cruiser - a Scout and absolutely love it. Been riding sports bikes 30 years and full face helmets are standard kit. I love the idea of an open face but if I'm honest it kinda unnerves me a little. I'd love to hear peoples opinions and experiences with open face & modular and thoughts vs full face helmets..... What type of helmet do you wear?
My thoughts on this are: no windscreen or faring, then full face or modular. Bugs in the teeth are expected protein. Debris spitting up from the vehicle in front of you is a whole other story.

If you have a faring or windscreen then open face is safer.

God forbid you go down, a full face will save your face.

On a Scout with little or no windscreen go for a full face with good adjustable venting. I have multiple helmets for various motorcycles and riding formats but for long distance on my Chieftain I have a full face with removable chin bar that I can store when I arrive at area of more suitable open face conditions. The aerodynamic drag of riding with a flip up modular helmet would be bothersome.

I won’t tell another rider what kid to wear. However: 34% of all accidents result in a hit to the lower jaw; about 19% to the right side and 15% to the left side. If you’re going to go with a modular remember that it is only as safe as the locking mechanism that holds the chinbar in place.

i wear AGV full face helmets and I have a tour modular that is ECE 2206 safety standard.

I have an open face half-helmet that I wear when riding around town. If I hit the highway then I switch to my full-face helmet.

My choice is mostly driven by heat. At faster speeds there's enough air movement to keep my head cool wearing a full-face. Around town I roast in the full-face.

I feel you. When I lived in Dubai it was regularly 120F or hotter in the summers and early fall/late spring riding. I kept my full face on, but I have to say that I needed two helmets so that one could dry out while I wore the other the next day.

Have always used a full face when most people I ride with go with no helmet. I'm used to the full face and feel naked with out. I did finally go to a modular last year. I like the modular, but a full face with a ratchet chin strap comes off easy enough too.

My general advice is wear a full face/modular if it's not bothersome to you. But I can see home some people would never feel comfortable in a full face.

I have used a LS2 Valiant (1) for about 6 years. When I trade, it will likely be for the Advant or Advant X. When you go to a ratchet strap, you will never go back to D rings.

I forgot:
Cons on the LS2 - at the least the gen 1 model, doesn't play well with a comms unit. Stay away from the Sena until that is paired with it. I think it is called the Ride Pal. I just used my Sena S20, mounting it further back than the visor slide.

Ls2 advant x for me, on a bobber there is no room for a second helmet and I enjoy the wind on my face, shield is large when down and covers a lot of your face when needed and the chin bar will flip back forward with one hand for when you get behind a gravel truck or hit some rain and since it's a 180 flip wind doesn't try to pull you off the bike at speed. As far as wind noise I'm told that you can't tell if I'm riding when on a phone call using my headset.

All the more reason to pay a little extra for a quality lid that has removable liner and cheek pads.
