Kind of hard to encounter things that don’t exist, no?
We've got lots of things that don't exist here in Oz.
A Yowie is a bush/mountain guy a bit like Bigfoot.
A Bunyip is a river monster along country rivers.
The Blue Mountains west of Sydney has had a panther roaming the place for almost fifty years. (Take no notice of the local football team, the Penrith Panthers.)
Then there are those that shouldn't exist - like the platypus. But considering that there is a sizable community of people who think Australia itself doesn't exist puts them all in perspective. That those people are flat earthers should not unduly influence our opinion of the existence or otherwise of Australia.
There is one animal that did exist that gets reports of sightings every few years. It's the Tasmanian Tiger, the Thylacine. It went extinct almost 100 years ago but those reported sightings still get a bit of newsplay.
