Just drove from Washington to Florida, not on the bike sadly, but had the battery disconnected per shipping company policy. Hooked battery back up and it turns over runs for 1 second then goes dead, instrument panel included. I have to completely disconnect and reconnect the battery to do it again. Voltmeter shows a perfect battery. Bike is less than a month old. Not sure what to do. Any advice appreciated.
What does your voltmeter read? A decent battery without a load should be a min. of about 12.3V These bikes are pretty sensitive to low voltage. From what you are describing, your battery might be at the threshold and then loads down when you engage the starter and the ECU is detecting a low voltage. You are just resetting the ECU when disconnecting the battery. If you are starting out with 12V or below, you will probably have the symptoms you're describing.
A fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. [2.1 votls per cell X 6 cells= 12.6 volts] Anything less, will raise hell with electronic components and give ya all kinds of grief, just like what you are describing!!
