I recently wired in a door opener to the high beam switch on a 2017 chieftain. it is a 12v opener. i must have tried it 10 times at first before i buttoned it all. worked as advertised it works when leaving, but returning home later in the day . nada the next day it works as advertised. until returning later in the day i changed the opener battery once just to have fresh battery. any help /ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks elvis /17 chieftain

It may be the positioning of the transmitter, combined with the positioning of the bike, relative to the receiver.

I've done this in the past myself. I would wire directly into the high beam so you don't have to mess with batteries.(Just create a solder bridge on the switch of the circuit board)
It is likely the signal of the transmitter not getting to the opener. For my application I was able to run 12' or so of wire from the opener to just outside the door to make a much larger antenna to receive the TX signal. No problems after that.
