Hi, when I bought my ftr, I took my girlfriend on it. She was frightened to death,!!! Have you ever sat on the back of one, it's like "Appointment with fear",so I decided to try and design a backrest. To start with I used the brackets you can buy from Indian,which mount under the passenger hand grips. From there I used some strong steel tubing, some brackets to hold a backrest on with,and a backrest I bought from the internet. I wanted the backrest to come off the bike easily,so only one screw holds it on . I've enclosed photos, so you could maybe come up with a plan yourself.
